In a month she has lost the FBI and the Caps/Wizards.

How much does the city have to lose before we all admit that the city is collapsing?

This is kind of a nightmare. Follow the money people. The money is LEAVING the city.

She still has the Mystics.

The FBI leaving is a good thing so DC can develop that entire block into a mixed use building with housing. The problem is DC will require 30% of the housing to be for low income people. That’s not going to revitalize downtown. People with money is always the demographic to lure anywhere to revitalize an area.

CapOne can be converted to affordable housing as well.

According to the WP, Leonsis owns it.

See, the same crowd that got us here wants this to be a windfall for more of the same. Bowser seems to have had that wake up call, certainly was not universal.

He'll bail from it. Why would he keep it. Yay! More affordable housing!

When more and more of the city does not work at legal jobs and never will, who will pay the bills? The current policies are drawing addicts and vagrants from across the country. As more tax payers leave, what happens then?

It's clear that when fed and CRE leases expire they will shrink their footprints. The solution is not to become the homeless luxury housing destination for the US. No money = no enhanced social benefits nor new bike lanes. It's like a war between reality and DSA kool aid drinkers.

Seriously, why should DC offer more and richer (for landlords) housing vouchers than any locality in the mid-Atlantic? Maybe among most cities? Other cities try to attract more private investment. Is it the goal of activists and their political partners in DC that the District become the destination of choice for those seeking to live on taxpayer assistance?

It already has.

CA offers cash assistance but has changed their law to make involuntary commitment easier so that has lessened the appeal to some a bit. Here you get a permanent housing voucher for middle class buildings and the voucher is not removed even if you commit a crime in the unit, threaten staff, neighbors, etc. You just get relocated, maybe. Many jurisdictions offer one way bus fare and sometimes Amtrak is paid for is my understanding. Some new neighbors come via Union Station. The housing vouchers are not going to those who have been on the section 8 list for decades. More here. https://www.foresthillsconnection.com/news/panel-at-ward-3-democrats-dec-6th-meeting-will-discuss-housing-vouchers-and-impact-on-rent-stabilized-apartments/
.

This and a an "incentive" prepaid cash card that only works more than 750 miles from the city where it was issued.

How does DC not have an economic development person?

He has definitely witnessed with his own eyes what was a great neighborhood for almost 20 years turn to the disaster zone it is today.

People forget that Ted actually works there and sees the city every day.

Exactly. I think he's genuinely over the current vibe of the area. I myself changed jobs to work in a different neighborhood, so, get it. He raised concerns repeatedly since early this year, there are several WP articles. Nothing changed consistently for the better. He spoke of employees being attacked. It feels menacing going down there. PY does not. And it's a new fresh start in a place that is on the upswing. That no longer is DC. And the answer is not to house more vagrants, addicts and former convicts from across the US. Enough.

With this move Governor Youngkin just toppled Warner to win election to the U.S. Senate; Warner's appearance at today's press conference is too little, too late. Youngkin wasn't going to let stupid "issues" like affordable housing and mass transit stop this thing from happening. He smartly located this on the Alexandria side of National Landing so the stupid missing middle housing and reform prosecution in Arilngton won't derail this. To their credit Arlington Police are ruby-red in their politics, but you can't take a chance on trying to work with the People's Republic.

Wonder how many DC provides transit out to? Don't want to limit the supply for the multi billion Homeless Inc. industry after all, I mean, who would take up all the slots to testify at Council hearings if there were fewer "advocates?"

This is the crux of the problem, they are not a business oriented bunch, rather they demonize it.

Uh...there was nowhere to put this in Arlington. But sure, your version too.

Quite a “destination “

We certainly couldn't build housing there because of all the airplane noise driving the future residents crazy.

He's not local. He's from Georgia.

Sometimes it’s hard to believe how stupid some of you are. He’s a local treasure. That has nothing to do with where he was born.

Learn what local means, moron.

Don’t sign your posts.

He's still not local. One day you might learn what that word means, fool.

He's lived here since at least 1974! https://www.linkedin.com/in/tom-sherwood-1a1bb841/

According to the rules of DCUM, he is not local. He had to experience his formative years in the local high schools.

I think a lot of the young activists still have parental family support, they seem to have no sense that money is finite and people won't want to live or spend money where they feel like prey.

who from montgomery county will attend these games?

I live in Bethesda and it was a breeze to get to Cap One.

I don't see myself ever venturing to PY for a game.

Why alienate the base so much? Terrible location for anyone outside Arlington/Alexandria

There is nowhere to put it in Potomac Landing either. The transportation infrastructure isn’t there.

The thin blue ARL police are POSs.
