FTR I do think between 1/6 and the christofascism of the GOP that the GOP will lose massively in November (but I also think that their cheating is so blatant that they will switch votes in a few select absolute must-keep races), but I think that until the full extent of their corruption and cheating are exposed, they will keep rising. I do not believe in the existence of “good” Republicans any more. Anyone willing to vote for them is, whether or not they like it, is willing to vote for the whole package - grinding women into dust, violence against Black people and other minorities, endangering the lives of anyone who doesn’t live and identify as “WOMAN” or “MAN,” empowering corporations while the rest of us fade away, treason, sedition, ruining the environment… they cosign it all. I’m not optimistic for the GOP really experiencing the full brunt of consequences. They have insulated themselves too much. |
The point of prosecuting Trump is to deter the next Trump waiting in the wings, and those who are willing to co conspire. |
"Dialing in" is just as treacherous. |
The red wave came...was terrible...and many are already on jail. |
According to Hutchinson, Trump instructed Meadows to go to the Willard on the 5th. Hutchinson advised him not to. Meadows told Hutchinson he would dial in. |
I imagine the little red books will follow the red wave. |
Do I recall correctly that there was part of a thread a couple of weeks ago about how the PB left their weapons in VA and MD so they wouldn't violate DC gun laws? And posters here suggested that because they followed the gun laws, it should be clear they weren't planning any other sort of illegal activity on 1/6?
Was it publicly known before yesterday that gunmen were stationed in trees? That's the first time I've seen those photos or hear that audio, and it left quite an impression. |
I wonder if the committee has broken anyone in the room? They can force Roger Stone to testify against everyone. It goes with a pardon. |
I didn’t know many of Hutchinson’s details. I’m the poster that that elaborated on the article link from 6:02. It’s the first we’ve heard of Trump’s violence against his staff, right down to the WH valets etc. who had to clean up in his wake. I’m furious about the Grassley comment, and it’s the first I’d read about it. McConnell is an utter lying sob. For me, it solidifies that the committee chairs are going after the low hanging fruit. If it gets the job done, great I guess? This is Cheney’s spotlight, if it’s successful, then gratitude. But do not think for a second she (or Pence) should be hoisted up on a pedestal. Our memories won’t be short. I have more respect for Pence after reading the article above. He knew his duty. He knew Grassley’s plan. I was unaware until reading the article above. I hope people here will read it, or at least the recap. |
Roger Stone is a true believing weirdo who has never had to experience a consequence for his weird ish in his life. |
Her first lawyer was coup-adjacent. It’s possible that some of his advice wasn’t in her best interest. |
Hmm-yeah.... Pence wants to outlaw abortion in the entire USA. So I'll respect him for his refusal to do a crime (what a low bar!), but not for anything else. He's refused to testify, he's refused to publicly condemn Trump, he's an extreme religious conservative and plans to govern with those precepts... And Cheney isn't much better in real life, although yes, kudos to her for being so gung-ho about downing Trump. |
I had never seen that footage and yes, it was something. But I do know there were lots of interviews right after 1/6 with MPD officers who said they had been taking guns off people all day and the day before leading up to the attack on the Capitol. Some at the Capitol were armed, some had planned ahead and stashed guns in Arlington. Some clearly did have weapons. |
Same. Something about when the security officer on the radio was alerting others to an "elevated threat," referring to the armed insurrectionists in the trees, made me oddly uneasy. I say "oddly," because even though it's all dangerous madness, for some reason, the "elevated threat" struck me more intensely than the other testimony. |
