GT/AAP Appeals

I think this report (where I got the information I previously posted) is useful. Remember, though, the enrollment size has increased from about 10% to about 15% of the student population. I am not sure what that does to the selection criteria.

As for the WISC scores, I suspect the WISC scores trump the rest of the criteria...

I think I read somewhere that average FSIQ of GT kids is mid to upper 120s: 125-128 range.

Hence better above mid 120s. Mid 130s sound pretty good. Above 140 should be fairly safe.

can anyone explain a +145 GAI and VCI, very social and motivated kid, mostly O's on report card, more verbal than a quant kid, getting GBRS 8? realistically what might contribute to the GBRS? not being a quant kid?

PP: Ask the teacher....

ok. dont want to be pushy with the teacher or put any pressure unnecessarily. may be after this process is over. I know parents tend to think their kids are great. but want to understand what it means so as to get a realistic picture.

Worse case for my DC I think. Very high scores on NNAT & CogAt, and mostly O's on report card.
(I thought DC should have no problem getting in)

Comments on report cards & also on GBRS were very good, but got mediocre numbered GBRS rating. Rejected.
So took WISC - 146 GAI and 142 FSIQ. I concluded GBRS can be pretty subjective and inconsistent teacher by teacher & school by school.

Well that's the whole purpose of the appeal process I guess.
Expect my DC get in, and everything turns out OK in the end for my DC.

PP: we respect the teacher a lot. No compaints on that side. So, I am guessing it might be something we are not understanding in the system, and its perspective of GBRS.

If you don't mind what was the GBRS?

11:09, what are the VCI, PRI scroes. And GBRS ?

I heard FCPS is very strict in GBRS compare to private Schools. I don't know if it's true. My dd got 7 GBRS, I appealed with very high Wisc let's wait and see what happens.

I'm 11:09. GBRS was 9. I respect the teacher, and really don't have hard feeling.
However it still can be subjective and inconsistent for various factors.
Again that's why there's the appeal process.

There's a rumor private schools tend to be more generous and inflate GBRS.
Well I guess more the students form their school make AAP, better the reputation of the shcool?
