The Royal Rota and tabloid's relationships with staffers in the BRF props up the tabloids. If I hated the tabloids I'd want to find a way not to help them too.

No two people react to tragedy the same way. Also, William was older and thus a little bit more emotionally equipped to handle the tragedy.

Setting aside the tackiness factor, this is not going to launch her into the income-generating league that they need. She has 15 minutes of fame to maximize and this is not the opportunity to optimize her potential earning power or position her for future success.
