okay so i've heard previously of rumors that we won't be in CCL this year due to missing teams and the general lack of competitive teams. is there any merit to this? somebody posted on a different thread something about 2003 and 2004 girls not being able to field a team, and there will be a lot of 'mixing' of teams (either playing up or white becoming red).

i know numbers haven't been great but i also know several have left this year as well (moved clubs or quit soccer).

Not playing CCL is only a rumor and not a good one. I think it's too late for them to back out of the league especially if NCSL does not offer a league as that is rumored to be struggling as an organization. Possibly could fold.

if NCSL folds, it will be replaced quickly. There are plenty of clubs with second and third teams that need somewhere for them to play. There are smaller clubs with teams not old enough for more competitive leagues that aren't in CCL. Those clubs aren't just going to get rid of teams.

whoever commented above is either ignorant or it's some coach who is not telling the truth. 2019-2020 tryouts, LMVSC told our white teams they'll be in CCL2. 2019-2020 white team's team sheets said CCL2. and then, they played NCSL. 2004 boys, 2007 girls, 2008 girls all said CCL... and then they played NCSL. not only can they drop out of CCL, they can do so at any point in time. it IS a rumor, its IS a valid one. i'm not just some dumb parent, i've been pretty involved in the process.

please, above poster. feel free to dispute what i just said. i will give you more information of just how easy it is to back out of CCL, or, get dropped by CCL.

Of course they can be dropped at any point by CCL but the club would have no intention of dropping CCL at this point. I think it's just too late in the game for them especially now that they are still holding tryouts.

The age groups you specified had their A teams leave with their coaches to another club. So, the B teams became A teams overnight by default. As such, the club made the decision to not put those teams in CCL where they would most likely be uncompetitive (seems there has been some angst on this thread about teams that weren't competitive last year...). These were B teams for a reason, after all.
Also, CCL2 is inconsistent, at best, and the club's top teams are "supposed" to play CCL, not CCL2. So it seems like the club made a solid decision to give those teams a better chance vs the competition they'd face.

op here, the one who heard rumors. to address the two previous posts (likely same poster):
- it doesn't matter if club intends to drop, the worry is if CCL drops the club. also, i'm sure the aforementioned red teams didn't intend to drop out of CCL, but did anyways.

- 2002 boys didn't drop (though they should have), same with several others. but more players are leaving. this conversation has to do with the girls side: the teams weren't competitive this year and plenty of players are leaving. the problem is, if 2003 and 2004 girls are having a hard time getting enough players to fill their teams, and there's no 2006 team, and the 2007 and 2008 girls compete in NCSL again, what does that leave? that's one girls team (2005 girls) that could field an 11v11 CCL team (and that's if they return everybody), and they were struggling as well. why would CCL keep us? this is why the rumor is real, this is why the rumor is valid.

how many white team players never saw red team playing time because 'you need to develop more'? and yet, now that there's room, they're suddenly red team players? same goes for blue. i understand, they need to fill roster spots. but if the red teams are losing players and filling them with white, why wouldn't they move the teams to NCSL?

as said previously, which you agreed to, those teams were unable to compete in CCL so they went to NCSL. well, it's become clear to me now that every team is losing more red team players so why would they participate in CCL??

that's what i though. you went from responding every 20-30 minutes and now it's been 2 hours. i think i proved my point.

the rumors are real and valid. personally, i think they're more than rumors.

Funny had they moved to NCSL we would of considered staying. CCL is over rated...4hr drives for a 60min match...no thanks

Quite a while ago on this thread, I advocated LMVSC realign themselves in NCSL. A few responders got dismissive but I have a pretty good feeling either JN or LC responded as well, and that response was essentially “don’t let the door hit you on the way out”. Pretty sad. With that being said, had the club committed to NCSL (maybe even EDP) we would’ve stayed. No point driving down to VA Beach to get rolled over and then again to Roanoke for same treatment. Then again, we Alexandria gave us same treatment. Either way, DS is happier and so are we.

It is far, far easier to just pick a club and team that plays in a league that aligns with your lifestyle than it is to get a club to change their affiliations to suit you.

Not a sermon, just a thought.

That’s why so many of us are upset, even if they’re staying. We DID have that.

Sorry bud, I had work and don’t sit here all day, not saying that you do. I’m not the same person that responded with a similar comment. All I was saying was that at this point in the game it may be late for either ccl or lmvsc to make a change. I do think that the club needs to re-evaluate where they participate depending on how their teams do and membership growth/decline.

you went from responding every 30 minutes to ten hours later. maybe you did but i’m skeptical of anybody that could defend the club. main reason is, there’s still plenty of time for both us to leave CCL or CCL to drop us. later summer, we didn’t leave CCL2 until last moment possible. the league hasn’t formalized anything yet, including club involvement. it appears we do agree in general though, the club needs to figure things out.

the will be down in membership again, and will continue to struggle winning and/or getting kids to next level.
