Obstruction was an article of impeachment for both Clinton and Nixon. For Clinton, it was lying about a blowjob. This seems a tad more serious, no?

I would also add that not pursuing impeachment undermines the actions of the witnesses who came forward to tell the truth and sends a signal to future witnesses in future cases not to bother.

I think the democrats (well and the whole Congress) have a obligation to their sworn oath to uphold the US Constitution.

You are the FBI and our allies abroad have captured first hand sourcing (ie on audio/video) of some of the names listed talking to Russians about the election, or they have captured Russians talking among themselves, citing some of the names above in their conversation. You are suggesting that rather than further the investigation, they should instead notify Trump that some of his people are being talked about by Russians or were talking to Russians?

And Rudy is as dirty as it gets so I don't know why you cite him in some extolling manner. There is a reason Christie didn't join the Administration - he wasn't compromised or dirty enough.

You are the FBI and our allies abroad have captured first hand sourcing that some Obama people talking to Russians about the election. According to you, FBI shouldn't notify Obama but just carry on surveillance. That isn't how it works. Remember at that point, Trump had already clinched the nomination and was receiving classified briefings.

(AG Barr mentioned the fact there were two US attorneys working in the Trump campaign in Graham's hearing. He didn't understand why FBI can't share that information with Trump or the two US attorneys.)

And in those classified briefings that Trump was receiving, he was told about Russian interference. And he deflected and denied it was happening. Perhaps a different response would have merited a different action from the FBI, but in this case, his reaction prompted more concern. How do you not get that?

Dp. I think you are confused. FBI gave him his first briefing 8/17/16 according to an NPR article dated 8/16/16. The Veselnitskaya meeting happened before then.

You are making my point. The FBI briefed him on activites he already knew about and he shunned their admonition, much to their surprise and horror.

If he fbi was protecting the candidate, they wouldn't have let the Russian Attorney anywhere near Trump Tower. You won't agree with me so, goodnight.

DP here: I do support him. I didn't find anything new in the report that I didn't know before the election. I knew he was a businessman and he had prior dealings. If they rise to the level of criminal corruption, he should be prosecuted by DOJ. If DOJ chose not to prosecute him, it is on them. I am more concerned that after spending so much money on this investigation, now we will be spending more money on Congress investigation. It is time to move on.

Np- the entire point of the report is to give Congress the means to pursue. Literally the entire point. You shouldn’t be shrugging that off, and you shouldn’t be hoping congresses just “moves on”. The ball is in congresses court to do their jobs.

Are you serious? Yes, Mueller is a special counsel appointed by the executive. Under the US Constitution, the Congress has a duty to uphold the law and specifically as it applies to a sitting President.

"High Crimes & Misdemeanors" does not mean felonies. The "High" refers to high office, not the level of criminality. Obstruction in and of itself is a crime and in this case done while in office. There are many examples of just obstruction that are impeachable, add to it Emoluments, etc, there could be many valid counts with great detail of fact behind each one, based both on sworn testimony and video and social media evidence.

The impeachment function is now broken---thanks to BOTH the GOP and the Dems. The GOP never should have impeached Clinton over lying about a blowjob. It was naked partisanship---especially since they in quick succession lost several House Speakers over their own sexual piccadillos. However, the Dems---in defending Clinton at any cost, even though he HAD lied in a legal proceeding---opened the door for Trump. Trump's obstruction of justice exceeds that of Nixon's. Our rule of law is the bedrock of our economic and political stability. It is the reason why the world's despots all want to park their ill-gotten gains here. If the House does not impeach Trump over such things as ordering the White House Counsel to fire Mueller, or firing the FBI director to impede an investigation, or in welcoming political help from a foreign adversary---then the impeachment mechanism as a way to remove a corrupt executive is meaningless.

Literally, just *last week* we found out that Trump told border officials to break the law and if they got in trouble, he would pardon them. He violates his oath every day.
