08 Girls

OK here goes. Not a complete list feel free to add on or elaborate on which scenarios concern you most about which club:

Clubs may change ownership
Clubs may merge
Clubs may fold altogether
Clubs may form new strategic partnerships
Clubs may either by choice or by league decision lose their DA or ECNL status
or switch from DA to ECNL
ECNL might create a tiering system like the one created in DA
Clubs may drastically change practice locations
Clubs may increase costs to players
DA might not have 08 DA next year
Some clubs may end up not fielding 08 DA teams even if DA continues U13 in our area
DA may allow players to play in high school
DA/ECNL may expand DPL/ECNL2 in this region creating even more teams to fill with people willing to travel long distances even though they are not on top teams
Key coaches/technical directors may switch clubs/retire/be replaced/become consultants to NWSL teams
Players may individually or as groups decide to switch clubs
Current players may get displaced by players brought in from elsewhere

I know if I were in charge of a soccer club in this area I would be emailing the families (including the 08s) in my club now or at least by the end of the fall season to address whatever rumors can be addressed. It is difficult to address what the leagues are going to do because they are slow to announce their plans for next year. If you know your technical director/coaches have no plans to leave or even better have a contract to stay or if your club has every intention to be in same league practicing and playing on same fields, why not share that information before your players start feeling obligated to look elsewhere? If I was a parent and got no such communication, I would wonder how stable is the club going forward.

Clubs may form rosters that are too big to let everyone play or too small to successfully complete the year. May need to rely on younger players playing up to fill rosters.

What rumors?

You've simply listed a bunch of things that could happen and such a list is credible every year. PP made the following statement:

"There have been rumors that more changes may be coming to the local soccer landscape next year at the club level."

This is eluding to knowledge of a rumor regarding a pending change. Your list simply obfuscates by saying "anything can happen" when that was not the implied meaning of the quote. So you either know something specific or you don't but don't post some garbage list of things you pulled out of your butt as if they are rumors.

Hard to tell. One 08 FCV team playing 07 NPL/regional ECNL. There are three 08s on their 07 DA roster.

I have no doubt that FCV 08 DA will be be one of the strongest 08 teams in the area a year from now.

LOL. Ok Mom. "Hard to tell" turns into "I have no doubt they will be the strongest 08 teams in the area" in 2 sentences.

It looks like you just convinced yourself.

If you take the best 08s from all current FCV teams and add in a couple of the best 08s from outside (which always happens) all of the sudden voila you have the best 08 team. It is not rocket science.

If your DD is good enough to be on that team (they probably are not), then you have a choice to make.

Thanks Bobby.

Are there even any outside 08's even good enough to make FCV next year?

maybe you haven’t heard. PWSI 08 is the best team in the area so they can easily make the team. They just beat CYA so you know they’re really good.

So all the current top 08 players in NOVA are already at FCV.

You heard it here first.

why are people trying to throw a hat in the ring when they are irrelevant.

In a year pwsi and vsa top players will mostly be playing vda ecnl assuming program doesn’t fold.

McLean is a mainstay in ECNL and consistently puts teams into National finals or at least has them in high positions nationally. Arlington went from a partial to a full DA and seems to be very stable. They have a ton of kids. I think watching The St.James/ FCV situation will be very interesting too. Say what you will, TSJ has a lot of money and FCV has put some quality teams on the field. BRYC has some very good coaches and good ideas , but they seem to be sputtering in younger ages. I would think SYC may be a solid club on the rise. They seem to be energized as a club, they bled LMVSC nearly dry, and they have some 08s that shouldn't be taken lightly. They also have an abundance of field space. There are a lot of good options and, regardless how you may feel about them personally, proven coaches in the 08 age group which is as it should be. It's a really good situation for talented kids. There are other smaller clubs such as Herndon that can offer great situations in certain age groups too.

mclean has gone down the flusher in its young ecnl sides. style of play bites.

Richmond striker?

Richmond will be powerhouse in ECNL at 2008 next year. The strikers are #1 in the state and they mix with kickers who are decent too.
