Reid explained that they are two different things. FCPS found the kids were residents to go to school there but vhsl has different eligibility to play sports.

So much buck-passing. According to the Fairfax times article (https://www.fairfaxtimes.com/articles/fairfax_county/after-reid-cleared-hayfield-football-as-many-as-nine-of-15-transfers-deemed-ineligible/article_e3a9ee4a-6ba5-11ef-99db-eba9fe57be68.html) VHSL official says “Schools determine eligibility, not the Virginia High School League.”

Well the Virginia Tech commit and last year’s Virginia state player of year has been playing and my money is still on Hayfield to win the championship. They just have to play through the adversity

"The adversity" of their coach unsuccessfully cheating and 9 of their former teammates being booted off the team?

Why blame the coach? He doesn’t decide who try’s out for the team, it’s not his job to determine who is eligible, he isn’t paying anyone’s rent that moved to an area zoned for Hayfield to play for him, but I guess a successful and he’s Black so we have to demonize him.

How is he successful? He got caught cheating with NINE kids.

A successful coach would build and coach up the kids who are zoned to attend the school he works at.

He's just a sleazy cheater and not even good at that.

Again, it’s not the coach’s job to figure out who is eligible. That’s the athletic directors job and no one has even mentioned him. Guess you have to put a Black face on the misdeeds you are trying to imply. There wasn’t even any cheating because the 9 players you speak of never even played a down.

Its interesting that you keep bringing up his race when you defend him. Its not racist to expect people not to cheat.

LMAO!!!

Is his defense really that these 15 kids just showed up the first day of school and he had no idea about any of it and was surprised to see them all?

It's digusting that he enticed all these kids to try and break the rules and now 9 kids are shut out of their sport for the entire school year.

He should be fired.

I personally am familiar with Madison athletics and I know for a fact that they have kids whose home address isn’t zoned for Madison.

And what about the South Lakes basketball team last year? They had a few kids transfer in that aren’t zoned for South Lakes and were important pieces to last years state championship team. Some will likely be playing on this years team which will be a top contender for this years state championship as well. Will there be all the public accusations and investigations into that team that’s coached by a WHITE coach?

There are mechanisms kids use to transfer high schools that are legit in FCPS. For instance, to take a language that isn't offered at their base school. That's usually how you see kids transfer. Smart coaches make sure all their ts are crossed when they have a star player transfer.

One of his slogans is #otf meaning “Only The Family”. That should mean he is looking out for kids who followed him to Hayfield but it sounds like they are getting rolled under the bus.

Sounds like he made sure the stars were eligible and the rest were hung out to dry.

At the high school level, the coach better care about eligibllity. The consequences of playing an ineligible player are significant, and can impact the entire team. Why would you make such a specious statement?

I don't think this guy is successful at all. Sure, who can't win against other public schools following the rules with a team of hand-picked ringers?

Win a season and championship with a team of neighborhood kids who didn't move there to be part of a supersquad and then you can claim success.

Any update on this?

they didn’t say he didn’t care. All that poster said, was it’s the athletic directors job. Most schools have an athletic director and an assistant athletic director. The coach does a lot of work for the little bit of pay he gets.

Doubt it or the Fairfax Times would have been all over it

Would like to hear what the School Registrar has to say about enrolling out of county/state football "students"
