Reid explained that they are two different things. FCPS found the kids were residents to go to school there but vhsl has different eligibility to play sports.

It sounds like Reid is making up things to CYA.

Maybe Reid's "400 hours" was just checking that paperwork was correct.

So much buck-passing. According to the Fairfax times article (https://www.fairfaxtimes.com/articles/fairfax_county/after-reid-cleared-hayfield-football-as-many-as-nine-of-15-transfers-deemed-ineligible/article_e3a9ee4a-6ba5-11ef-99db-eba9fe57be68.html) VHSL official says “Schools determine eligibility, not the Virginia High School League.”

Well the Virginia Tech commit and last year’s Virginia state player of year has been playing and my money is still on Hayfield to win the championship. They just have to play through the adversity

That doesn't make any sense! FCPS said everyone was OK to play at the meeting....then turned around and told VHSL 9 kids couldn't play? Im baffled.

"The adversity" of their coach unsuccessfully cheating and 9 of their former teammates being booted off the team?

I’m sorry your kids aren’t good at sports.

I'm sorry your kids are only good at sports.

Stacking a team with out of county ringers is not "playing through adversity"

What's the difference between "FCPS residency" and "VHSL residency"?

VHSL has their own rules for what constitutes a "bona fide change of residence" for purposes of immediate eligibility as a transfer. For example entire family has to move and previous residence must be disposed of. Otherwise you can't play for a year.

In practice, the schools make their own eligibility determinations based on the VHSL rules, and outside of high-profile cases like this, no one looks into it too closely. Rare for anyone to be ruled ineligible.

They are good at sports, but astonishingly better at academics. I think it’s unfortunate that people want to get rid of sports in high schools. Seems like we are slowly draining all the fun out of our society.

No but all the jealousy and hate they are getting from people like you is. Instead of hating, you should be appreciating and congratulating.

Why blame the coach? He doesn’t decide who try’s out for the team, it’s not his job to determine who is eligible, he isn’t paying anyone’s rent that moved to an area zoned for Hayfield to play for him, but I guess a successful and he’s Black so we have to demonize him.

I personally am familiar with Madison athletics and I know for a fact that they have kids whose home address isn’t zoned for Madison.

And what about the South Lakes basketball team last year? They had a few kids transfer in that aren’t zoned for South Lakes and were important pieces to last years state championship team. Some will likely be playing on this years team which will be a top contender for this years state championship as well. Will there be all the public accusations and investigations into that team that’s coached by a WHITE coach?

How is he successful? He got caught cheating with NINE kids.

A successful coach would build and coach up the kids who are zoned to attend the school he works at.

He's just a sleazy cheater and not even good at that.
