I feel exactly the same way, vacation is here next week and my body looks OK. Good enough. Had a good day yesterday with enough exercise and healthy eating. Sugar wise, I had a bowl of life cereal at the end of the day but that’s it.

We should make a point to have a wonderful time on our vacations. We have both had very stressful work periods This summer. I am determined to be easy-going. It will be nice to unplug from all my devices as well. Have a wonderful week and a wonderful vacation!!

Hi Kate, I did great yesterday but then stress ate Lucky Charms in the evening- probably two bowls. It’s so easy to undo a whole day of eating well, I’m so frustrated. I did exercise so that is something.

Today is also nuts and I slept terribly yesterday. Ahhhh just have to get through it.

My kids are young enough that our trips are not really relaxing but they are fun! Will try to have realistic expectations. I am hopeful some changes at work will help the fall be less crazy. This really hasn’t been sustainable the past few weeks.

I did pretty well yesterday especially considering what a busy/crazy day it was! I got healthy take out for lunch (sandwich and salad) and was very full until dinner. No snacks really helps keep the sugar down!

One small (less than 1 serving) of luck charms in the evening.

Oh, Lucky Charms are very good. I get it.

I am back from vacation. I have COVID, though my DH and DD seem to have escaped it. Vacation was so much fun. Probably the best vacation I've had as a parent. Traveling with young kids is rough, but with a teen, so much better. She did have one melt-down when the water slide was closed due to thunder/lightening, but we were able to do it later on that day. I have no idea how I ate because I didn't really track anything, but felt good until I got sick the last day. Traveling home on the plane with a fever and fatigue (and a good mask that I never removed) was brutal, but at least it was after the vacation part was over. Hoping I can be ok to work next week, though I will stay home of course.

I am looking forward to getting back into my routine once I am feeling better.

How was your vacation??

I just hopped on the scale and was well within my green range. I never felt deprived on vacation, ate everything I wanted, walked a ton, did some workouts at the gym, and maintained my weight. Woo-hoo!

Well, COVID sure killed my appetite. I had 300 calories yesterday, similar to Friday. No sugar. Going to try to get some food in me today. Still fever and headache. Isolating.

Oh no! So sorry you have COVID. I hope it gets better soon and the rest of your family doesn’t get it.

I’m back from vacation and I ate terribly. It was a good vacation a lot of the time but my youngest ended up at urgent care and losing about two days to health stuff. It was stressful and disappointing and while I’m trying to focus on being thankful he is better now I didn’t handle it the best and ate a ton of sugar and junk at kid friendly restaurants. I’m frustrated with myself. I have not weighed myself yet and I’m not sure I’m going to. My clothes feel ever so slightly tighter and I feel sluggish so I know it was bad.

Trying to shake it off- the start of the school year is a big transition and I’m going to try and be healthy now we are back.

Generally follow a low sugar diet (tend to crave salty and savory snacks) but this weekend at the beach I overindulged and had sugary breakfast cereals, candy and ice cream.

I had forgotten that too much sugar makes me prone to UTIs and felt the beginnings of such - urgency, slight discomfort and spent all yesterday forcing clear water and having more protein.

Feeling better today but great reminder that as I/we eliminate sugar, even a slight binge can be disruptive to our bodies; it takes a smaller amount for me to get a headache or feel lousy.

Hi Alexandra. I am sorry to hear your kiddo fell ill on vacation. That is very stressful all around and you got through it, which is what’s important. It sounds like the other parts were great which is fantastic. I agree that starting back to school is a great chance to reset routines. I do love my daughter with all my heart but there has been a whole lot of daughter time this summer. Husband and I were hoping for a few moments of alone time on our vacation but it did not happen.

I am doing much better, just a lingering headache and fatigue. Fortunately no one else in my family got sick. I haven’t had much of an appetite but I’m going to try to get some breakfast down. Plain Cheerios always worked for me as a little girl when I was sick so my husband bought a box.

My kid goes back on Monday and hopefully I will be feeling up to returning to exercise by then. Have a great day, Alexandra. You sound like a wonderful mother.

Glad you are feeling better, Kate. It’s nice to be home and figuring out our fall. I ate really well yesterday and worked out. I hope I can keep it up.

I had another good day of exercise and eating and that felt really good. I felt stressed and impatient with my kids though. Will try to make today better on all fronts. I’m so bad with transitions - and so are my kids.

Kate, are you back to full health?

I’m still a little tired and have a bit of a headache but I was able to get out and do a light jog this morning. My plan is to do my shoulder exercises today for the first time in a week and see how I feel. My eating has been good. I had two packs of smarties last night but otherwise no sugar. It’s been hard getting back into work but it’s what I need to be doing.

COVID makes me sleepy. But I’ve been eating ok. Just not exercising. Hoping to be back next week. Weight is fine. Been craving sugar but saying no to myself.

Last weekend before the crush of the school year hits with my senior.

The past few days are kind of a blur. I think I had a day of eating pretty badly (those #%! Lucky Charms!) but then I got sick and was completely out of commission for a couple days. Just starting to feel better. I’m determined not to lose the strength progress I had made (trying to focus on my upper body a bit which is so so weak) so that’s a priority tomorrow. Fingers crossed everyone stays healthy though the start of school!

Good morning! First day of school for my senior. I’m a very proud mom. Today I am reigniting my low sugar push. I am over Covid and finishing up a morning jog. I had three donuts for dinner last night and predictively felt like crap in the morning. We are stocked with healthy food. Here’s to a wonderful, healthy day.

I lost some strength while sick, but planning to do three sessions this week at the gym. Looking forward to a great week! Oh and my kid got her license over the summer so it will be a year of much less driving for us.
