If Depp was so concerned about what his children thought or their reputations, then why is he airing such disgusting information about how he lives for the entire world to see? The videos, the text messages, the photos, his testimony about the drug use, the awful language, the threats, the destruction of property, the alcohol. It blows my mind that somehow all this, on the record, isn't hurting his children or their reputation but the WaPo Op-Ed does.

I hope he has some proof that some company didn't hire him because of the article. Otherwise why not just have his exes speak out in support of him and make a statement on his own? It's not like she went after him so directly and criminally that he couldn't make an indirect address of his actions himself.

When cross examination began (not yesterday but the day before they managed to squeeze in about 20 minutes before calling it a day) his lawyers brought up an article published in October 2018 (two months before the op-ed was published) stating that Disney was looking to dump Depp. They haven’t come back to it yet but I’m certain they will.

You think it helps his case to show that Disney wanted to fire him BEFORE the Heard article came out? Seems like they would have dumped him whether the article came out or not.

Was he crude, a drunk, obnoxious, druggie, selfish? Yes. Doesn’t mean he hit her. No proof.

I believe he is trying to clear his name for this and I believe him when I 100 percent believed Amber a week ago. She is the nutty one who is looking for fame and the only one who has been accused of physical abuse also while she is on tape admitting she hit him.

Amber just had a court case with Elon Musk for their embryos. Elon wanted them destroyed. Their baby just turned one via surrogate. She is looking for money and fame and is the one who physically abuses.

🤯

To be fair, I kind of respect this. If I were single, wanted a baby, and had the chance to have a child fathered by Elon Musk, I would do it. Not because of his $$, but because of his intellect. If you are shopping for donor sperm, you can’t get much better than Elon Musk.

I hope the baby has his brilliance and none of her craziness.

He's got a host of personality disorders, and he's ugly too.

Why would I think it helps his case? I don’t think he’s going to win because I don’t think he has a great case. I actually read the op-ed in question, unlike many here. Exactly why would you make such a baseless assumption?

K, crazy…no one is saying his behavior was okay. He’s clearly a very troubled person. But, she walked in on him behaving like this, turned on her camera…and started asking leading questions to piss him off more. Any emotionally healthy adult would have got the hell out of there.

She asked him what happened, omg!? Clearly he ought to break something else, it was such an abusive question!

Did we ever find out what actually had happened btw? I missed it. I don't know why he was behaving that way. He also seemed to be blaming it on her.

I totally understand the desire to record when something crazy is happening to you. I get it.

Thank you. The rabid defense of Depp by some of his totally stable female fans here is something, isn’t it?

I don’t see how you can see her as any less crazy and culpable as he is. I am not so much defending him as pointing out that she is also a pretty messed up person. SHE PURPOSELY DEFECATED ON HIS SIDE OF THE BED and moved the sheets so he would lie in it. This is crazy, abusive behavior. Plus, did you not hear the tape where she tells him no one will believe him if he tells?

They are both horrible. Stop trying to pretend she is normal herself.

Yeah, but it's a defamation case, not a "who do we hate most" reality show, and he's the one that brought it... apparently over an op-ed that's weak tea at most. They are both seriously disturbed - but that exactly why this trial is a huge waste of everyone's time.

Exactly. I think they're both trash, but Depp's the one abusing thr legal systemntontry to get back at his ex years and years after the divorce in an incredibly weak case. So in this situation I'm anti-Depp here.

He has always lived the pirate lifestyle and has never lost a job until Amber accused him of physical abuse. This is what I’d at stake. His reputation and his work. It might be a waste of time for you but not for him
Or for his kids reputations.

He's always had a bad reputation, and his work has dried up because he's a liability on set, and because he doesn't have the talent to pull off a serious role and he's too old and ugly for a blockbuster.

This.

She’s the one who seemingly inserted cray-cray nonsense into the equation…and it seems like it was done strategically for a payout.

Remember: he’s dated a lot and his ex vouched for him. He was not the violent person Amber claims he is.

Sometimes crazy women provoke responses…particularly when on a mission. The fact that she taped everything is very telling.

This is such a red piller justification for abuse - she provoked him, she was looking for it. I guess his ex also deserved the abuse too.

"Actor Johnny Depp called his former partner and mother of his children Vanessa Paradis a 'French extortionist c***' in an email to British singer Elton John, Amber Heard's legal team revealed in court on Thursday."

"She made me do it" is classic abuser language.

I honestly didn't pay that much attention before, but this trial (and it's important to note Depp's side is still presenting, Heard hasn't even put on her case yet), has me completely convinced he is a slimeball.

What's her excuse?

I don't like her either, but she wasn't the one who filed.

If Depp thinks dragging all this into the public is a good idea, he's sorely mistaken.

Remember, Johnny doesn’t want his kids thinking their dad is this heinous wife beater.

Getting solid proof their dad their dad is a pathetic drunk junkies who writes things about raping someone’s burnt corpse to make sure they’re dead and calls their mom a c*nt is a-ok though!

And to convince his kids he's not a wifebeater he apparently needs to waste millions on a lawsuit rather than, oh, I dunno, just talking to them.

Although really goes to show how utterly nonsense socal thos suit is. I think it's likely he's hurt his career far more by pursuing all these cases than the stuff he sued over in the first place. Plus the giant legal bills he's generated.

It’s been mentioned before but it bears repeating: the lawyers are the real winners here.

That being said....Amber appears to be an Instigator, Provoker, Manipulater, Melodramatic Drama Queen, using others as pawns in Her Great Play. Johnny could have just let it go, but cares about being painted as a garbage person. I don't blame him.

However, Johnny should get help for his substance and mental health issues.

Also, I regard Wasington Post as a rag paper, much like the NYT, shells of former great news oulets. Puke.

+1 well said. Also, I would hate for the world to think I acted like Amber. Not kind, gentle or classy at all.

Both of these people are, to varying degrees, violent narcissistic drug addicts, and you think the worst thing in this toxic train wreck is Amber being seen as "kind, gentle or classy"?
Granted, she is none of those things, but wtf is this "sugar and spice" comment.
