Ellicot City is joining CCL.

Maryland U. offered decent competition usually. E. City was horrible and a longer drive. CCL just gets worse and worse. It just needs to implode.

Once Arlington and Loudoun go it will definitely lose any last bit of "elite" status. It will probably remain a relevant league in Virginia for mid tier clubs, especially those in far off areas with no other competition.

I thought they were the drivers behind it...

The smart clubs already hightailed it.

Who knows.
It is no fun though winning every single league game you play.
Arlington wins everything, when there are better teams outside CCL.
Arlington needs to see this and leave.

Recently moved to the area and thinking of having my kids join CYA. Can anyone give me some insight into the program and the coaches there?

SYA held a town hall last week that focused mainly on CCL. They are billing CCL as a regional league (stating DA and ECNL were national leagues). They also highlighted the CCL success in state/ region / national championships (15 state, 5? Regional and 2 national)and some efforts to expose kids to college coaches (2 showcase events and ccl college Is camp).

Paul Ellis mentioned several times how the CCL directors meet monthly and how he frequently talks to the directors outside of the monthly meetings. He also mentioned that the CCL has an expansion committee and there have been (5?) clubs reach out to join. He did not say who / where the clubs were- but did say that they have enough teams in NoVa.

IMO- the current CCL will stay in CCL because the directors have a much greater voice in CCL then they would in any other league. McLean could theoretically follow md united / BRYC - but they may be the only remaining CCL club that would have that option.

Also - just to be clear - Paul Ellis did not say / claim CCL was as good as ECNL- though he did say that he did not believe that the area had enough "elite" players to support 5 teams (McLean, BRYC, FCV, VDA, Wash Spirit).

So they are talking to 5 other clubs about expansion and none are from this area ? If they add more clubs in Roanoke and VA Beach a lot of parents are going to think twice about CCL.

No - the 5 was to show that other clubs were interested in joining - (point I took from it was that they were saying that the CCL is still strong we have clubs that want to join)

Enough parents already hate CCL due to that . . . no more regional travel to those parts please. The teams better be in NoVA. This is not about sitting back and choosing among choices. People need to be active at their clubs and continue to fix the CCL travel problem. It slowly can be improved.

The Spirit Virginia DA ID day was far more well-organized than I expected. Decent set of players at U14-U15.
