Trickle-down Racism

Mitt Romney says Trump's rhetoric is "Trickle-down racism and bigotry". I am (a Democrat Hillary supporter) no Romney fan, however he seems to be doing the right thing pointing the danger of a Trump presidency. Not clear what is in it for him, however he is has earned my respect. Wish most republicans had seen the same and had not voted Trump to be the nominee. While I feel Hillary will win the election, the remote possibility of a Trump Presidency still is very scary!

Mitt Romney has the courage of his convictions and, apparently, one of the few Republicans whose integrity is of greater importance to him than winning. More so than his former running a mate.

I am no fan of his, but I am so happy he is not letting this go. Paul Ryan could learn from him

Meh, Romney has nothing to lose by speaking the truth. It's clear that a lot of Republicans (e.g. Ryan) agree with Romney's views, but they are caught between being able to say what they think and worrying about their ability to govern. It would mean a lot more to me if Romney were saying what he is saying while holding elected office.

And let's not pretend for a moment that the founder of Bain Capital and someone who beat up a boy in high school for seeming gay is a pillar of morality. Romney looks great in comparison to the current crop of Republican leaders, but he's got his issues as well.

Romney is a stand-up guy. I didn't vote for him, and had he been elected I wouldn't have agreed with many of his ideas. But he probably would have been a president to be proud of.

He didn't "beat him up" -- stop making things up. The story was that Romney and some other boys cut his hair. In hindsight it was a juvenile thing to do, but not outside the norm of locker room hazing for the time. And gays were not very socially accepted then, especially not by high school boys.

I love how liberals keep saying that republicans are the only Trump supporters. Wrong! Plenty of Democrats support Trump.

Mitt Romney is the definition of a sore loser. He tried and tried and lost. The guy also has no loyalty. Considering what Trump did for him in 2012, a decent person would return the favor and help his own party.

All of you "Romney is go great" folks should have voted for him when you had the chance.

Trump isn't the party and this open revolt against him makes that painfully obvious

I love how worked up Trump supporters get when he gets called out
Get used to it, Trump will be attacked from all sides and for good reason. By the end of this campaign he will be obliterated

Because there is plenty of decency left in Americans on both sides of the isle. And thank god for that

I'm an independent who voted for Romney, and maybe I've been drinking the Kool-Aid, but I tell you I really thought he was a stand-up guy. This latest behavior of his seems completely consistent with his character.

I think it's hard for *some* people who come from a secular viewpoint to get into the head of someone who is coming from a strong religious background. If the religious background is woven into them in a healthy way, it can be a strong foundation for the person acting out of a greater good rather than just to get themselves ahead.

I have friend who is pretty far left, and (a few weeks ago, before the latest Romney condemnation) she was impressed and marveling at Romney, and saying, "Huh, maybe he really is decent and believes in America over his own party affiliation." So good for her to notice and re-think about his character.

If someone's behavior surprises me, my rule is to question my assumptions--because unpredictability means that my assumptions are incorrect and I need to adjust them. Anyways, that's worked for me, and helps me to remain open.

I'm still waiting for Trump to surprise me...so far...he's been pretty consistent. Why people think he will change and become "more presidential" when handed a huge amount of power, I don't get. Usually power just makes people act in a more extreme version of their present self rather than tempering them.

I wish he had such courage when he was actually running for President.

When Trump was going Full-Birther on Obama, he was also scheduled to raise money for Romney at a fundraiser where Romney was to appear. This is how he responded:

Asked on his charter plane whether Trump’s questioning of President Barack Obama’s birthplace gave him pause, Romney simply said he was grateful for all his supporters.

“You know, I don't agree with all the people who support me and my guess is they don't all agree with everything I believe in,” Romney said. “But I need to get 50.1% or more and I'm appreciative to have the help of a lot of good people.”

Mitt Romney is an elitist of America's ruling class who's about to divested of his influence on Jan 20, '17 when President Donald J. Trump is sworn in as 45th President of the United States of America. It will be festive and amusing watching America's ruling elitists scrambling to retain power as Trump yanks it right outta their hands.
