Scary!

I'm a former Republican who quit during the Bush years. I voted for Obama. I supported Sanders. I opposed Romney but I think Romney is right on the money for calling Trump out. If he were running against Trump I'd actually consider voting for him.

+1

They probably called Romney a racist after hearing his 47 per cent comment.

People can do good things and shitty things. One can appreciate each of those things accordingly.

Bu? of course, the republican black and white way of thinking from PPs should not surprise me

I think it's hard for *some* people who come from a secular viewpoint to get into the head of someone who is coming from a strong religious background. If the religious background is woven into them in a healthy way, it can be a strong foundation for the person acting out of a greater good rather than just to get themselves ahead.

I have friend who is pretty far left, and (a few weeks ago, before the latest Romney condemnation) she was impressed and marveling at Romney, and saying, "Huh, maybe he really is decent and believes in America over his own party affiliation." So good for her to notice and re-think about his character.

If someone's behavior surprises me, my rule is to question my assumptions--because unpredictability means that my assumptions are incorrect and I need to adjust them. Anyways, that's worked for me, and helps me to remain open.

I'm still waiting for Trump to surprise me...so far...he's been pretty consistent. Why people think he will change and become "more presidential" when handed a huge amount of power, I don't get. Usually power just makes people act in a more extreme version of their present self rather than tempering them.

I'm a liberal Democrat and completely agree with everything you said. I did not vote for Romney because I do not agree with his positions, but I never had any doubt of his integrity or qualifications. I did doubt Paul Ryan's integrity -- and I feel I've been proven right in that!

Nope. He is only a stand up guy now that he is saying what you want to hear.

Sorry, no hypocrisy on my part. Nothing wrong about recognizing it when someone on the other side does something right, but you're the ones throwing one of your own under the bus for stating some inconvenient truths...

His finest moment. Perhaps the Res a slim chance the GOP will survive Trump's reign of hate and bigotry.

Yes, I'm s democrat but Romney is a grown up who as President would have done his homework, appointed qualified people and worked hard. Trump is just a joke except that the joke may be on us if he gets elected.

I think Romney's motivation, in part, is that having lost in 2012 he cannot come to terms with the possibility of a Trump victory in 2016.

Yes, he may believe that Trump is unprepared and unqualified but that makes the possibility of his victory in the general even more unpalatable given that he lost.

Republicans have been blowing their dog whistle for so long that it's funny how surprised they are acting now that a dog has shown up.

Too bad an isis attack has drowned this out and propelled Trump

Since living in white Republican Utah, Biff knows so much about race in America.
