Meh, Romney has nothing to lose by speaking the truth.  It's clear that a lot of Republicans (e.g. Ryan) agree with Romney's views, but they are caught between being able to say what they think and worrying about their ability to govern.  It would mean a lot more to me if Romney were saying what he is saying while holding elected office.

And let's not pretend for a moment that the founder of Bain Capital and someone who beat up a boy in high school for seeming gay is a pillar of morality.  Romney looks great in comparison to the current crop of Republican leaders, but he's got his issues as well.[/quote]

He didn't "beat him up" -- stop making things up.  The story was that Romney and some other boys cut his hair.  In hindsight it was a juvenile thing to do, but not outside the norm of locker room hazing for the time.  And gays were not very socially accepted then, especially not by high school boys.[/quote]
