| Title says it all. Tell me about someplace that isn't a popular destination that you would recommend. |
| Leaf peeping in Vermont. For city people we had a great time--surprisingly good food (instead of wine tasting we went cheese and maple syrup tasting) and beautiful hikes. |
| Greenville, SC reminds me of a quaint new England town. |

Laconia/Weirs Beach, New Hampshire.
Sleepy beach town on a lake that picks up a bit in summer. Really sweet area. Close enough to the outlets at North Conway. |
| Pittsburgh and Milwaukee. Both surprisingly fun Rust Belt cities with good food. |

Drive up the coast from San Francisco through Coos Bay and Astoria to Port Angeles WA.
Drive around Iowa and Minnesota visiting small towns, eating at diners and A&Ws and swimming in lakes. |
| We had the best time doing an overnight at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore. It was our first time taking our toddler to a hotel, so part of the fun was just getting out, but between the aquarium and little Italy and the hotel pool, it was a lovely getaway. |
Agree on Pittsburgh. Fun city with lots to do and surprisingly scenic. Never been to Milwaukee. |
| Another for Pittsburgh. |
I'm happy Pittsburgh is getting love. It's my hometown.

+1 Most of Iowa is very hilly and beautiful. |
| Flagstaff |
| The Maine coast east of bar harbor. Not as spectacular as Acadia, but peaceful and beautiful. |
| Driving across South Dakota from Mount Rushmore to DeSmet and walking around Laura Ingalls Wilder's homestead and town. |
Another vote for Pittsburgh -- good food, baseball and Warhol.
