Boston is not an unexpected place to vacation. |
Are you the person from the other short trip to StL (Webster Groves) thread? Glad to hear you are enjoying yourselves! |
Thank you |
I actually was surprised by Boston. It's honestly a place I had zero desire to visit, but we went up recently to visit a friend and had so much fun. |

This is a funny thread. It could be called "terrible flyover places I'm trying to sell you on"...
And, I'm from one of those places. You'd never go if you weren't from thre. |
Block Island x1000000000! The way New England beaches used to be . . . |
Well, bless your heart and stay away! |
;' Yay! So glad someone mentioned the City Museum! |
| Don't know if anyone's mentioned Louisville, KY, but the Ali Center is really cool, and there is an INCREDIBLE skatepark there. |
| The Wisconsin Dells for spring break. Super easy and laid back and the kids loved the water parks. |
I was going to say Columbus. Friends moved there & I was really surprised it was so nice. The German Village is great for walking around, and great food. We also did a really beautiful botanical garden. There is some science center which is supposed to be stellar but we didn't have time. They have a national hockey team & soccer team - our friends go to the hockey games. And then there's everything connected with Ohio State, which of course is tons. |
| Close to here, Richmond. The children's museum and attached science museum are cool. VMFA is excellent. There are activities all along the James River. so much history. Food scene is excellent. new Quirk hotel is cool. great for a weekend. |
| Manchester, VT. Went for a wedding a few years ago. Adorable town, quaint inns, great hiking, pick your own fruit, swimming in a quarry, shopping...we had a really good time. |
| +1 to Milwaukee and Tucson!! Also enjoyed Durham, NC. |
+1 to Columbus. There's a great art scene there too with the Wexner Gallery (at OSU), and we were pleasantly surprised by the Columbus Museum of Art--it's very family friendly and lots of neat exhibits going on. But no matter what you do there, be sure to indulge your sweet tooth: stop by Jeni's for some of the best ice cream that you'll ever have in your life, and check out either Northstar Café or Katalina's for brunch (try the stuffed pancake balls!)--you'll thank me later. |
