Humans behaving badly means zoo animals die

First lions now this gorilla. WTF is up with humans misbehaving at zoos and causing the zoos to have to kill the zoo animals? Why wasn't this kid's adult watching him? Why didn't the zoo build the structure so people can't fall in? Sad.

It was sad. Should have shot the parents too.

+1. I hate the news stories about people messing with animals, and then the animal gets killed. Ridiculous. People who have no sense get to live, though.

The gorilla is an endangered species and was more valuable than this brat who is not an endangered species. These low lives will now sue but they should be put in jail.

PP above is wide awake in middle of night and lashing out!

Well, if the purpose of "news" is to create hysteria, they've done good.

Parent should have been watching better. But also zoo's fault - who builds railings that a 4 year old can fall through, into the moat?! Regardless, gorilla was attacking the child. The zoo made the right call.

Too bad you aren't the one who fell in the gorilla cage.

They should have put the parents/caretaker in with the gorillas, for being neglectful morons.

The parents should definitely be charged. But it was not the kids fault so the zoo still did the right thing. I

The zoo should be held accountable. Obviously their safety standards are lacking. How did a kid fit through the rails? This isn't a case of the parents hoisting the child up. Isn't this the same zoo that had the polar bears get loose earlier in the year?

"it appeared the boy went under the rail, through wires and over the moat wall."

It sounds pretty safe to me, with numerous checks. Unfortunately it's not idiot-parent/caretaker proof.

The original article I read just said he slipped through the bars and fell into the moat. Either way, the child should not be punished for what is the fault of an adult.

I am so disturbed when human beings don't value the lives of other human BEINGS! Particularly human beings under the age of five!!
