Humans behaving badly means zoo animals die

+1 If the parents were neglectful they should be held accountable but how is it even a debate whether saving the TODDLER was the right thing to do?!

Wow did someone actually think the zoo should let a 4 year old die? Article said the tranquilizer would not have worked.

I'd suggest sending whomever was supposed to be watching the 4-year old into the gorilla exhibit, to distract the gorilla while the child could have been rescued. It was their failure, and neither the poor gorilla or child should pay for their complete idiocy and neglect.

You sound like a complete idiot. Are you under some juvenile impression that they had eons of time to work out a rescue?

Yes, see troll PP who said gorilla should have been spared over "brat."

Obviously the child should have been saved, but those parents are responsible for the death of the gorilla and should be held responsible.

"it appeared the boy went under the rail, through wires and over the moat wall."

It sounds pretty safe to me, with numerous checks. Unfortunately it's not idiot-parent/caretaker proof.

The original article I read just said he slipped through the bars and fell into the moat. Either way, the child should not be punished for what is the fault of an adult.

I saw photos of the barrier. It is one of those railings with steel wires below the top rail. I could see a child slipping through before a parent could react.

You can see it here on the video at 05:34

Wow, those are totally inadequate rails. That is totally on the zoo.

Didn't the Cincinatti zoo have a child fwll into an animal habitat a few years ago?

I could be mistaken, but for some reason I don't think this is the first time this has happened at this particular zoo.

I remember one a couple years ago in Pittsburgh, not sure about Cincinnati.

But a couple polar bears got out of their enclosure in Cincinnati a couple months ago, so I doubt their safety standards are super.

Was is the penalty for killing an endangered species? I assume the US will be bringing charges against the parents. To whom can I contribute to facilitate this? Is this HSUS's thing?

Also, how can I file a report with the local CPS? This child is clearly not being cared for properly.

Make sure you also file a report against the zoo for repeated safety violations, inadequate security and inadequate barriers.

Also, "the US" doesn't charge people. Use your googling skills before you try to sound smart, little one.

I just looked it up.

It was Cleveland and cheetas. Not Cincinnati.

Sounds like aohio has an issue with stupid people and insufficient zoo enclosures.

What*

Also, you can't "contribute" money towards the government to make them file baseless charges. That's known as bribery. Are you even an adult?
