| On maternity leave. Just finished Breaking Bad, which I enjoyed. But it was so dark. I need a palette cleanser. Should I watch Friday Night Lights, which I've heard good things about but don't know much about it? Or should I re-watch Gilmore Girls in anticipation of the 4 part mini-series airing later this year ( or next year) ? |
| Both are good and I watched both on my maternity leave! I would go with the Gilmore Girls re-watch first - it's lighter than Friday Night Lights, especially after Breaking Bad. But you should definitely watch Friday Night Lights at some point - so good. |
| Both are wonderful! Gilmore Girls is lighter, though. Enjoy! |
| FNL |
| Sophiesmchoice right here. Both. |
|
Tough call! I'd probably vote FNL since you haven't seen it, but I'm rewatching GG right now and thoroughly enjoying it (except part where Chris and Loralai are married).
And just be forewarned the first half of season 2 of FNL is pretty bad. You have to get through it because there's a ton of good stuff after that. |
| I loved both. Agree that GG is lighter, but FNL is more real and stays with you longer. |
|
FNL
I only got through a season and a half of GG and got bored. |
|
Friday Night Lights. I loved it-and this is after the end of Mad Men and BB when I thought I would never find anything else good to watch.
That said, I'm watching GG now and it's low key-but not addictive. |
| Texas Forever. Friday night lights first. |
| Loved both, but Friday Night Lights is the far superior show. I would not describe it as "dark" (certainly not compared to Breaking Bad!), but far more emotionally deep than GG. |
+1 Probably my favorite show, ever. But agree with a PP that season 2 is cringy. It was during the writer's strike and it shows. |
| OMG you pick Coach! FNL then GG, and I love both. |
| Why would you put yourself through Gilmore Girls more than once? |
| I couldn't even get thru 2 seasons of GG, too boring. I'm planning on FNL for my upcoming maternity leave. Parenthood is great too if you haven't seen it. |
