Except she didn’t and that’s what’s worse. She’s young. She’ll go back to her country, and live a normal life next to her mom. Something V will never be able to do. |

The CW felt really unprepared. If they’ve spoken with her before they should have been prepared for her manner of presentation. They did nothing to make the jury like her like asking why she wanted to be an au pair, why she wanted to come to the us etc.. They did nothing to make the jury understand the relationship with her and Brendan. Nothing to establish any idea that she was taken advantage of. They didn’t ask where Christine was while they were in NY or at the shooting range.
The coroner mentioned that the shot in Joes head shot was downward but they failed to jump on that. I hope they have a ballistics person on deck. Finally, like others, the glasses on her head. I get why you’d have glasses on your head but in the body bag? That feels odd. I have no idea what they are doing over there. |
| Did the forensics person even say how many stab wounds Christine had? Also what about the cut on Joe’s finger? Both sides just kind of let that hang. |
| Everyone seems to think that this whole case rides with Juliana, but I don’t think it does. Just like this Lawyer is saying in the opening statements; the blood and the forensics are going to prove everything Juliana is saying is true. |

I'm watching opening statements as well. The defense claims they have letters from Juliana saying they want her to say things that aren't true to get Brendan, that her case was dragging on and she decided to flip. I mean... I am for the prosecution, but this is a decent defense, especially if she is not convincing (I haven't watched her testimony yet). He claims that "other people, not me or Juliana" will affirm this (I mean I'm guessing it's just Brandan's mother).
I hope the sweetheart deportation deal she got doesn't boomerang against the prosecution, and that they really do have all the physical evidence to prove everything. I was wondering why Juliana testified early but it makes sense now... if she's rambling, they are getting it over with early and will contextualize with competent witnesses who can explain the facts. |
| Who do you guys think comes next? The former au pair? |

Part of Juliana’s testimony here. |
Summary for today: He’s cooked. Juliana confirmed every detail of the premeditated plan and she admitted to firing the second shot to chest that killed him. Prosecution was expedient. For the person that asked about the account username that they created on FetLife, it was Anastasia (something, I think numbers). In exchange for Juliana’s testimony, she gets time-served and deportation back to Brazil. The judge is the same one who presided over the Johnny Depp/Amber Heard case. |

| I wonder why the Fet Life website is not getting any bad publicity. It's really scary that someone can create a fake email address and register as you, and coordinate someone to come over and rape you and say "I may fight but ignore it, it's all part of the game." They should required photo ID and video chat to register or something. |
They require a “selfie” authentication now |
| Juliana knew all about the messages back and forth with Joe, how and when the account was set up, that they never accessed her account outside the house (on purpose), etc and the electronic evidence backed it up. What is the defense going to do to fight this? |
Well they also have evidence where Theresa (BB's mom) said to Juliana "do you know what happens to snitches in jail"? |
| From WTOP: In preparation, both Magalhães and Brendan Banfield traded in their phones in an effort to hide evidence. He also changed the windows in the home to improve the soundproofing and checked neighbors’ homes to see who had doorbell cameras, Magalhães said. |
She also said they made sure to only access the account when Christine was home so it would appear to be her, and also making sure to do it sometimes when either Brendan or Juliana was out, so that it wouldn't appear like it was them running the account together! She made a lot of references to Brendan saying they had to do this for "the investigation" so that will help a lot; when the defense notes these things, it will be obvious it was set up by Brendan that way. I wonder if they will have anyone from IRS to testify as to what kind of training their investigators receive. |
