Official Brett Kavanaugh Thread

K is such a lying pig - it makes me want to scream: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/24/business/brett-kavanaugh-yearbook-renate.html?action=click&module=Top%20Stories&pgtype=Homepage

The poor dupe/woman Renate - she actually signed a support letter for him. . . . but then recently learned K and his buddies bragged about her as a sexual conquest in their yearbook pages and called themselves "Renate alumni."

And now he claims he was just a big fan after he went on a date with her and had one kiss.

I honestly just don't understand how people can believe the garbage/lies that flow out of his mouth (recent Exhibit A Fox interview).

And if he really was a virgin (but nonetheless a harrasser) until "many years" after college... wow. 27? 28? 29? Hilarious!

He ought to have been questioned about his finances. Such a fluffy interview. He dodged most of the questions, repeating ad nauseum "I want a fair process..." rinse, repeat.

No, he did not come off as truthful. He came off as evasive. He didn't even answer the question as to whether or not he wanted an FBI investigation. His wife dodged that one completely, looking at her husband and he didn't answer the question.

I actually felt sorry for his wife. She seems brainwashed and sad. All her answers were so carefully rehearsed and completely empty.

This didn't help Kavanaugh at all.

Of course it was fluffy - it was Fox, the Trump propaganda network

I just rewatched the beginning because I only saw the end. He really is odd. I don’t know if he’s compartmentalizing or in a survivor mode (or both) but he didn’t even show any emotion to his wife. Not physical, nor did his face register any.

There aren't 51 votes against him either.

He will be confirmed. After the hearing, all but 1 or 2 republicans plus 3 red state democrats will put him over the finish line.

A lot of GOPers could do the right thing and vote against him inlcluding Flake, Corker, Nelson, Heitkamp, and several others. The whip count is not looking good right now.

No one answered my question earlier as to whether the Judiciary Committee had voted on him yet. If they haven’t, Flake could give a McCain-style thumbs down and kill the nomination before it even gets to the floor, right?

They haven't voted yet. The hearing is Thursday.

I think no matter what actually happened, we can all agree on one thing: Kavanaugh has been immersed in a misogynistic culture that centers itself on treating women in a disgusting manner. From the gross yearbook comments to the gross frat to gross questions for Clinton to gross emails about women with coworkers to requiring that his clerks look like "models" ... he has been immersed in that milleau. He SHOULD NOT be deciding questions of utmost importance to women.

I think McConnell could give kavanaugh a floor vote even if the committee voted not to recommend him. Often what happens is people vote for a bad nominee in committe but try to hide behind the idea that they voted for the nominee because a person so accused deserves a full vote. That is what Kavanaugh seems to be pressing for.

Christine Blasey Ford, has stated that she does not remember the location of the party, but she said it took place in a "suburban Maryland area home".

However, in tonight's Fox interview with Brett Kavanaugh, he states a specific location of the party (at 2:26/13:41).

According to Brett, the party was "at a house near Connecticut Avenue and East West Highway". So why does he have a location of the party and she does not?

Wrong. She said it was near columbia (which is, of course, at east west and Connecticut). Sadler, all her family who are members at Columbia are staying super quiet

We live in a society where alcohol is the major factor in the teenage/young adult social scene. So you give teenage boys/young men alcohol and how do you expect them to act? What happened was not "sexual assault" it was drunken horseplay, and happened at every single party at the time.

What's strange is you considering pinning someone down, trying to take off their clothes, and covering their mouths to stifle their frenzied screams is "drunken horseplay." I would certainly expect young men to act better than that, regardless of alcohol.

Absolutely not. We have to make a stand against these tactics. Democrats must learn that they can never try to do this again. Kavanaugh will make them pay once he is on the court.

Absolutely.

I’m pretty sure this guy’s problems have given the red state Democrats enough cover to vote no. McCaskill already came out against him.

He was definitely close to the line of frat boy rape culture. That’s becoming more evident by the hour.
