The murder rate in DC is down literally 63% compared to last year. This is the DCUM forum. How can you say it was better to live in a place with a 63% worse murder rate?

It was already on a downward trajectory from when trump left office in 2021. The continuing improvement has nothing to do with more federal presence.

You know you can actually see year by year murder numbers at the bottom of that page that was linked right?

There were 116 murders in 2017, in the 200s from 2021 to 2023 (peaking with 274 in 2023). In 2025 it dropped drastically to 127 and we are on pace to be way below 100 by year end (we have 10 murders year to date).

As someone who lives and works in DC I am not going to slight this progress. If the 2026 murder totals are less than 88 it will be the lowest murder rate in DC since at least the 1970s.

No. What closes down when ICE goes in are the protesters who attack and prevent ICE from doing its job. That is why the sanctuary cities and counties should turn the criminals over from the jails.

Go look at the lists of people ICE has arrested. There have been some pretty awful people. The two people shot in Minneapolis were misinformed if they thought that ICE was just out hunting people. Sad for them. But, you cannot attack law enforcement.

for every one awful person, there are 30 decent people and abnother 15 actual Americans who have done nothing wrong. That isn't a very good batting average.

Did you make this much of a stir when Obama was deporting 3 million people? I remember a time when Dems were for deporting illegal immigrants regardless of whether they were criminals or not. I want those Dems back.

That was back when they supported union workers. Those days are gone since there numbers have dwindled. Now it’s all about illegals, open borders, DEI, men playing women’s sports - this is the platform of the current Dem party.

Dems still support unions and union workers. Dems also support blue collar workers with higher minimum wages, apprenticeship training, healthcare, OSHA standards and a litany of other things.

It is the GOP who pushed "globalization" and the export of factory jobs to other countries in the name of bottom line growth for stockholders. Yet it is the GOP who lies and gaslights their voters into believing they are tough on crime, that they are the party of family values, that they are better for the economy and at every turn, these have all proven to be abject lies.
