Here is how to transfer to any high school in the area

All sports programs should be ended. We need those dollars for education, not games.

He talked 9 kids into commuting to Hayfield every day from wherever to play football for him, and now those kids are stuck commuting to a random school they have no connection to AND they aren't allowed to play football anywhere all school year?

So does this mean that because of the coach cheating, 9 Prince William County / DC /Maryland students are ineligible to play football at Hayfield, and are now teamless? Or are they allowed to return back to Prince William County / DC / Maryland and finish their seasons at their zoned schools?

Or do they have to sit out the season, missing any college recruitment opportunities?

If the article is correct, they can't play anywhere in Virginia. I don't know if that carries over to DC or MD.

Coach cheats and makes a fool out of himself but only the kids pay the piper? He should be fired.

It's the FCPS way....it's always the kids who pay for the chaos in FCPS. Not just in sports-across the board.

I’m sorry your kids aren’t good at sports.

If its a VHSL ruling they can play in another state or DC.

I don't know maybe there is something to this. Only fund no cut sports. It seems like only the best travel kid who then takes a few months off to play high school make the team. Their parents already have the money to fund the years of club before even getting to high school. They are probably getting better training and competition with their clubs over HS anyway.

Agreed, and I can't imagine this will go over well with the parents of these "homeless" students who purposely chose to come to this district to follow the coach. How do you make a highlight reel from the bench?

Football is almost always a no cut sport, one of the few high school sports that are no cut.

At one school, girls softball and cross country are no cut

At another, they both might be difficult to make with lots of kids being cut.

Theater always cuts dozens of kids. Sometimes, the musicals might cut 75 or 100 kids.

Should the schools with strong theater programs stop funding musicals and plays to save the feelings of the kids who get cut, o the kids that try out who can't act or sing?

School sports are a tremendous part of US national culture and heritage. Taking sports teams out of high schools is frankly, very anti American.

Some kids may be too old. A lot of athletes reclassing in this era. Things can get complicated when kids transfer schools.

Grades. I remember there was a big story last year about a player who was ineligible due to grades-I can't remember if he was in a Fairfax county school or some other local school.

Reid explained that they are two different things. FCPS found the kids were residents to go to school there but vhsl has different eligibility to play sports.

What's the difference between "FCPS residency" and "VHSL residency"?

I find it hard to believe that NINE kids are all too old (what's the age cut-off? they played last year at Freedom with the same cutoffs?) or doing steroids.
