It’s true. Heard the same on WTOP yesterday.

It’s settled: Hogan is pro choice.

Probably not as pro choice as you would like.

He is NOT PRO CHOICE
That is BS

He's a liar. His actions speak louder than his words. When he was governor of MD we knew exactly how he was pro life. His daughter spews it daily.

And JFC he is a Republican unless he says he is no longer a Republican he is unfit for office.

He will vote party line. He will vote in PROJECT 2025, who wants that hellscape???

Maryland needs to stay Blue!!!!

PP, I don't necessarily disagree with you, but your approach is counterproductive. I get a ton of complaints about your posts and you seem to be everyone on the site. So, I hate to have to do this, but I am going to have to give you an ultimatum. You can ether mellow out and communicate in a calmer and less confrontational manner or I can do whatever it takes to prevent you from posting in the future. It's your choice.

Hogan claims to support Roe.

In the Senate, if the GOP controls the gavel, it won't matter what Hogan supports.

Also, will MAGAs turn out for a 'RINO" candidate who supports Roe?

The idea that Hogan did anything but leave the MD abortion laws alone- is just not based in reality.

His veto was the dems bill to allow non Doctors to perform the procedure. Something that in 2022 was not allowed in any state, and even now only in 3 (including MD).

Somehow that has made the narrative "HES ALWAYS BEEN AGAINST WOMEN'S PRODUCTIVE RIGHTS!!!!" and that is just beyond silly.

Hopefully his announcement yesterday diffused the issue, and dems will actually have to have a substance based campaign, and not just Roe roe roe x 10,000 till November.

Will Hogan give Republicans the 50th vote to confirm Trump’s Supreme Court nominees? Yes he will.

What Hogan personally believes is totally irrelevant. He will confirm Trump’s SC nominees. That’s the only thing that matters.

He just announced today that he is enthusiastically pro choice and will fight to restore Roe. So he’ll do whatever it takes to restore it, and we can interpret that to mean any number of things. It appears he seeks to represent most Marylanders in Congress, whatever their political persuasion.

Susan Collins is pro-choice. How did that work out?

When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.

What are you talking about? Maine's abortion laws remain in line with where abortion laws were nationwide before Roe V Wade was overturned. Susan Collins has never fought for more restrictive abortion laws, was opposed to the overturning of Roe V Wade, and she has made it clear that she supports Maine's current abortion laws going forward. Hogan promised to uphold Maryland abortion laws as they were when Roe was overturned and he made good on that promise. The Supreme Court handed the right to legislate abortion laws back to the individual states in 2022. That's where we are whether we like it or not. With individual states now having this legislative control, those in favor of abortion laws as they were under Roe V Wade should recognize state leaders such as Susan Collins that are on their side instead of lumping them in with those on the other side of an issue. There may be other issues that give Roe supporters reason not to vote for Collins or Hogan but their stance on abortion law isn't one of them.

I'm old enough to remember living through the last 8 years. I guess you're not?

If politics in America has caused misery for you over the past eight years, there are many, many other politicians you should be pointing fingers at before you get to Susan Collins.

The topic is what Susan Collins did (and didn't do), which is why we're talking about Susan Collins did (and didn't do).

Susan Collins gave Kavanaugh the benefit of the doubt when he lied on the abortion issue. Whether she was stupid or nefarious, whether she is pro-choice or not, she gave away the farm on abortion. She gave the Reupublicans the number they needed to win and torpedo Roe.

A vote for Hogan is voting red. UGH

DP. It’s truly astounding that you haven’t blocked the above mega troll long ago. She derails every thread on which she spews her garbage.

The anti-freeway coalition (and "freeways to boulevards" groups) will likely vote Alsobrooks, as she would likely oppose the Beltway widening.

No, he's just pro highway-building, that's all.

I don't know who the "we" is who is waiting, but these things were said by Michael Knowles on The Michael Knowles Show on The Daily Wire.

You can look the Project 2025 stuff up yourself.

Every Democrat currently in the Senate or running for it has made that pledge. Except maybe Manchin.

Obama promised that this would be the first bill that he signed as President. Then he won, Democrats had control of White House and both chambers of Congress and then they did nothing.

I had forgotten that. That first term also missed the boat on a lot of other legislative and funding priorities.

The Democrats only had a filibuster-proof majority for about two months between Al Franken’s victory finally being certified and Ted Kennedy’s brain cancer. Sorry they couldn’t solve every American problem during that time.

You have no idea about Alsobrooks record. PG County instituted a moratorium on building townhouses under her leadership.

I know she didn't cancel the Baltimore Red Line, give back $900 million in federal funding, and redistribute $736 million to highway projects (mostly in counties that voted for him). Larry Hogan did that.

Nope. You made the claims - you provide the citations. Which you can't, because nothing like that exists in Project 2025. I have no idea who Michael Knowles is; but since you brought him up, provide specific links.

I generally want to believe people when they speak, and I see the many nuances of abortion concerns (and remember politicians who hated abortion but still voted to ensure women had the right), but I don't trust that man at all. Not on this.

I’d like to see some support for renewed investment in Baltimore. Someone who would support converting that freeway-to-nowhere US 40 into a boulevard that could reunite neighborhoods long blighted by that road. Md could easily snag federal funding for that.

Also someone who would back the redevelopment of the State Center (Metro Subway Link) station, surrounded by blocks of parking lots, blight, and soon to be abandoned state office buildings. What a waste of real estate in the heart of the city. Politicians have been talking about redeveloping that area for years with no progress. I’m sure there are federal funds (economic development funds and block grants) the state could get.
