Does anyone know exactly how the NWLL Board is elected? The (unusual) email we received yesterday from Klisch and Erin mentioned something about committees. . .I looked through the NWLL website, and the Constitution (plus bylaws?) seems to say that the Board "may appoint a Nominating Committee" that determines who is on the "slate of candidates" to be voted upon by the members in December??? I don't remember hearing this in the past, but in light of the current mess, this sounds absolutely crazy: the Board picks the only approved candidates for the Board election, which is then put forward for a vote of the NWLL members? Has anyone not on the Board's approved slate ever been elected? I recall Ricky asserted something in that 9/10 meeting that sounded odd at the time--like that he didn't pick the Board--and the email yesterday said something about Ricky being on the "2024 Nominating Committee", which I'd assumed was just for officers once the Board was elected. Does this mean that Ricky is on Committee that chooses the exclusive list of Board candidates who appear on the ballot? How many people are on this committee now (and also, how many in the past???). If the Board picks the candidates allowed on the ballot, and no outsiders appear on the ballot (but maybe assuming write-ins are ok?), then how possibly would anyone have any confidence that the members of the board would be beholden to the league families? They pick themselves?!?!? Here's a link to the league's Constitution, if anyone wants to try to figure this out: https://dt5602vnjxv0c.cloudfront.net/portals/51615/docs/nwll%20constitution%20ratified%20june%2012%202016.pdf |
Wow, accusing a Reverend of being on the take. That may be a new low, even for DC Urban Moms. Let us know how it works out for you. And what you're missing is that someone can both question the draft issues and challenge the commissioners' aggressive and abusive tactics (which have been harmful and destructive). Those are not inconsistent. This has been made this so personal, and people have become so tribal, they've lost all sense of decency and sight of what's best for the league. They'd burn it to the ground if that's what it takes for them to win. |
The current happenings are certainly divisive now. But there have been problems festering for years, and no one has managed to improve things. Instead, everyone just went with the flow, and the problems continue. Somebody has finally said "enough is enough" and you blame them? There wouldn't be a revolt, however messy and aggressive, if the Board had been doing their jobs properly. |
Reverends and preachers and priests stealing from their flock is as old as olden times. But who is the reverend you refer to here? It's also clearly not the point unless the majority of the NWLL board is made up of them. You've got a group of organized cheaters. Get rid of them. Stop stealing good kids from lesser baseball communities so NWLL can try and get a leg up on its neighbors in the city. (Which by the way, doesn't sound very god-like, now does it?) |
"Religion was invented when the first con man met the first fool." ― Mark Twain. And "reverend" is an adjective, not a noun. |
She's horrible. |
Their only response is to lie. Every.Single.Time. |
Speaking of cheating so why does Mike klischs team have SIX all stars on his 2023 team? Seems the cheating is festering and includes those hypocrites involved. Not sure any bird members are aware of how to run a board and all should be removed including commissioners. |
Yeah, and he added more good players to his roster in the offseason (he has control as commissioner). Dude's been team stacking for years. Everyone knows it. And don't forget his kid and Sweeney's kid were on the spring 2022 Grays team that "ran over everyone," and Klisch was league commissioner at the time, but they said nothing because they were happy to be winning. He didn't complain about it earlier - whoever made that comment, read the letter and complaint - says he "initially raised his concerns about Player C with Davenport privately in late 2022," long after the season ended. So where was he during the regular season? Coaching 3d base for the Grays while Sweeney was cheering from the stands! Cannot trust the messengers here folks. |
Facts, please. GameChanger shows four (4) kids on his Fall team that were on the 11U summer team, all of whom he drafted this spring for his powerhouse (/s) 7-7-1 team. NWLL keeps returning Spring players together each Fall, so nothing irregular there…and he appears to have had zero (0) 12U all-stars this spring, fwiw. And the new players—per the box scores—appear very…developmental at this point in the developmental fall season. Look it up. But go ahead, continue to attack the whistleblower with misdirection and exaggeration. You know, I hear that he gives one of those players special inducements—personally-chauffeured transportation to/from games, cake on his birthday, and even a little walkin’ around $ that takes care of bubblegum and baseball card purchases! What will it take for the parents who are fighting so hard to protect the legacy of their kids’ legitimate on-field achievements to acknowledge that some of the adults involved may have acted inappropriately in 2022 w/r/t player eligibility, and many are definitely acting inappropriately right now in preventing an honest, objective review of the concerns that have been raised for 18 months? At some point, the blame will be shared by the otherwise-innocent, good people who choose to protect shameful behavior of others, rather than seek—or merely allow for—a fair and just resolution. Look at the facts. Demand transparency. Produce the documentation so that EVERYONE can refer to the evidence, not what one or another interested parties are saying. And do not allow this to happen again in our community, not by concealing the misdeeds, but by setting a higher expectation for the adults entrusted with our kids well-being. There is no reason this argument should still be raging when the facts are knowable and producible by NWLL and DCLL. It starts with the truth, which is difficult, and which may result in ever more difficult conversations with children to explain the failings of trusted adults—but that is life, and it is growth, if it comes to be. |
7-7-1 in Spring 2023 sound like team stacking? |
more good players?? his 4 new players from AAA have ZERO hits!!! nice misinformation campaign Ricky!! |
hey, nice put down of your aaa kids - what a coach! and did you (as commissioner) add any new majors kids to your team that already has four 11u allstars? i don't remember any team ever having four returning summer allstars, and certainly not one that then added more good players. |
whose a reverend? and why does it make a difference? |
I bet Klisch would be happy to go if it means getting rid of Ricky and giving those kids a chance to play ball and have some fun. |
