Disagreeing with progressive politics or ideas doesn't make you a white supremacist. Having white supremacist politics or ideas makes you a white supremacist. Are white supremacists white supremacists? Yes. |
Do you realize how insane it is to compare two groups who have nothing to do with each other? It's an intentional attempt to change the discussion from religious people simply asking for an opt-out, to know throw them in the same bucket with a hate group, because they happen to agree on one issue. It would be like if Donald Trump said he liked the Washington Nationals, and I said "yeah me too". OH SO YOU ARE ON THE SAME SIDE AS DONALD TRUMP ON THIS ONE, HUH?! |
They were literally protesting the same thing at the same protest event. That's not "nothing to do with each other." It was a mistake for MoCo CAIR to have the joint protest with "Moms for Liberty", in my opinion. They should have had their own protest event. |
This. If you co-sponsor and co-organize a political event with a white supremacist group, you should expect to be called out for it. CAIR is in bed with bad people here, and the fact that they are a Muslim-American group should not stop anyone from pointing that out. |
This x 1000 |
It would be like if you and Donald Trump went to a Nats game together. |
Only if you think all the Muslims that oppose books featuring LGBTQ+ books are the same person. |
Who are you saying is the white supremacist group? |
No, only if I think that a group of Muslim-American parents held a joint protest with the so-called Moms for Liberty group. Which is what happened. To explain the metaphor: you = the group of Muslim-American parents at the joint protest Donald Trump = the so-called Moms for Liberty group at the joint protest the Nats game = the joint protest As a reminder: there are LGBTQ people who are Muslim, and there are Muslims who are LGBTQ. These are overlapping groups, not separate groups. |
|
Also I'm not sure that "Mom's for Liberty" is in fact a white supremacist group.
You might disagree with their book banning and other issues- but thats a big stretch. Which makes this entire thing an even bigger stretch when the very premise tying these two groups together, is a stretch itself. |

Sometimes these conversations remind me of dealing with my ex-husband. Whenever we argued, he felt that he was a rational person who had reached his conclusions logically, so it obviously followed that if I disagreed with him, I was being irrational and relying on emotion rather than logic. The idea that two people could have different perspectives and logically reach two equally valid conclusions didn’t occur to him, much less that through either a flawed premise and/or flaw in his logic, he could actually be wrong.
Too often it seems that because progressives feel that because their approach formed from their good intentions to help people, anyone who disagrees does so from hate. There are certainly individuals and groups that are motivated by hate. However, there are also many well-intentioned people, who also want to help people, but may disagree with progressives about how to go about it. We should also retain a little humility. As humans, we are inherently flawed and will sometimes be wrong. Moreover, issues are usually very complex, and there isn’t always a clear cut “right” and “wrong” answer. Whenever we disagree, let’s consider the possibility that we may not be as right as we think we are and the others may not be as wrong. Statistically speaking, it’s got to happen sometime. I’m not saying we should ever condone hate, but I think we should recognize there’s a big difference between racial bigotry and parents wanting some control over exposing their young children to content that they feel opposes their beliefs. This isn’t new. We’ve long had cases where a parent might not want their child to participate in celebrations, stand for the Pledge of Allegiance, attend sex ed classes, or dissect frogs. Some of those may have generated controversy, but I can’t remember anyone blaming the parents for racial bigotry. |
White supremacists think they're a white supremacist group. That's good enough for me. |
Well said. Thank you! |
Can you expand? Who has said this? I’ll admit I haven’t heard about Moms for Liberty until recently. While I don’t support all that they stand for, I don’t clearly see the white supremacist connection. |
I’m 13:11 and I’m also trying to figure this out too. |
