I am not sure that all the insulting each other is helping to resolve the issue.
I don't want to wear a mask all day for the rest of my life. But I don't mind wearing one in stores, on the bus etc. Given the current spread, and widespread availability of vaccines, it seems reasonable to me to relax restrictions now and let people choose for themselves when to wear them. Yes, some people are immunocompromised. Those people can continue to mask. And it wasn't like they were at zero risk pre-covid - from the flu, other viruses etc. But we didn't force everyone to wear masks indefinitely. |

I think most people are okay with masking full time. It’s really the only smart, prudent, and cautious approach moving forward.
Despite their cries otherwise, I believe most complainers do comply. |
I, too, believe that unicorns are real. |
Give me a break. |
If wearing masks is such a great idea for keeping us all healthy. Why didn’t someone come up with this pre-pandemic. Think of how great our lives could be had someone thought of this sooner. All the time we would’ve saved not getting colds etc. don’t tell me ….”well in Asia …”. I’m talking about the US. If this is such a great way to live for the rest of our lives you think some smart people would have proposed it earlier. |
It’s really not healthy. We need to be exposed to stuff to keep our immune systems working. |
| Let’s imagine our lives 20years in the future. Since the new normal will then be wearing masks, will all movies and TV shows show people in masks no matter what they’re doing? Well all paintings and representations of life show people wearing masks in every day situations? Will we cancel all culture from before the pandemic and before wearing masks became a way of life? Well we sit around the campfire, in our masks outdoors, telling our grandchildren about how there was a time Wayback when people didn’t wear masks. |
Most sane response on here. |
This happened in 1918-1920. People wore masks. We were not still wearing masks even in 1930. I am ok with others not wearing masks right now, because they are more likely to deselect themselves from the workforce and cause an upward tragectory in wages nas benefits. So it's win win for me. |
Fun fact: there were anti maskers during the flu pandemic. |
|
I know. I am related to great influenza anti maskers but they all died before I was born..
I also know that my grandmother died from great influenza induced Parkinson's disease in the 1960s. She was an antimasker back in 1918-1920. She died before I was even born. Not a mention a couple of great uncles, who also died of viral Parkinson's on the other side of my family. Whoops. |
No. Not whoops. Your “anti-‘masker” labels do nothing to support your point. The facts are that people are using mask mandates to hide the issue - which is personal responsibility for one’s own health. Get vaccinated. Then - ask yourself, am I fat? Do I smoke? Do I exercise? Do I get regular physicals? Masks just help hide the real issues that lead to Covid deaths. If you recall the nonsense the CDC fed us about Covid living are surfaces? Well - controlled environment - controlled! - led them to believe this as a fact. Same with masks - in a perfect, controlled, environment masks are great. Guess what? Does not happen in life. But, but is it easy to show your 9 cents mask off in public and glare down at the mask less. Pathetic. |
Believe whatever you want. Life will move on - maskless - without you. Please get some exercise and mental health support. |
My point is: my ancestors were in their 20s and in great physical health at the time. They were not fat, and we're remarkably the relatives who never smoked. They bowed to pressure not to wear masks, and develop the great influenza. They don't die. 30 years pass, and they are all in nursing homes or bedridden at home with Parkinson's and die before I am born. Some of my fat smoking relatives lived well into their 70s without any issues til heat attacks took them fast. Those we're the ones I remember. I am now in my 50s, have been vaccinated, and wear a mask to protect myself. I am glaring at no one. Make your own choice: if you don't do everything you can do to keep from catching Covid now, including getting vaccinated, wearing a mask and doing all the other things you mentioned, you have absolutely no freaking idea what kind of health problem is coming for you 20+ years down the line. Or sooner. MoCo is currently using data to decide whether masks are required or not. If enough of the rest of us mask, and keep rates low, you can feel free to run around without one and take your chances. You are a precious little snowflake if someone happens to look your way and you melt with anger. |
| And, please get some mental health support about your adversiion to masks, and your inability to ignore even a glance. It's quite disturbing. |
