So, in Jordan Wallace's car they found 2 backpacks, the expired registration to the Mosler, and his passport.

I think Jordan Wallace was involved but perhaps didn't intend for murder to occur.

Based on what? None of that is incriminating.

I can not find any national news network to say JW had the expired registration.. but yes his passport was inside the BMW .. Two external hard drives?? would that be a memory stick???

Where did you hear about 2 external hard drives? TIA

I think the "external hard drives" are digital camera memory sticks

External hard drives are just that, external hard drives. Can be about the size of a post card and an inch deep. Connect to computer with USB wire.

Unless I am mistaken, the external hard drives everyone is referring to are the SD memory cards found in JW's camera bag --as per the evidence inventory

How would the perps know about this? Unless I guess they tortured the victims into telling them ways within the home that they could be id'ed?

I hope the security system had an off-site back-up. Some systems have this, so even if the in-home storage is destroyed, the security footage will be available to the security company.

idk for sure but my guess is because it has security footage on it that could incriminate them (or at least maybe the perp(s) thought it did)

I know this is a sick thought, but is it possible they recorded the attack, and wanted to watch it later/

On the DVR? I think I'm just not understanding what the missing item is.

oh…I'm the first one responding about thinking it has incriminating footage and in saying that I was assuming the missing item was a dvr (digital video recorder) from the S family's home security system.

it's sick--but you know the crime is so sickening--that I don't think it's a stretch to think he saved it somewhere to look at it. Gah. Stomach churning.

I was thinking from the beginning that it was really surprising that the video was not backed up to 'the cloud'. I thought it was the default setting on most newer systems?

You might be interested in this post on Websleuths. The writer makes the point this crime was personal, doubtfully motivated by greed.

Very interesting about the different companies in NY and MD with similar names. He definitely has a point. It really makes sense.

No they are dusting for prints..and I believe the armrests of the BMW..but the way the WUSA9 is reporting it..like the armrests are detached from the auto

Oh police can get DNA off of parts of the auto..and test for blood with Q-tips

Authorities said in the warrant application that they were searching the BMW for “forensic and physical evidence linking Jordan Wallace to this offense.” Items they seized included two backpacks, a laptop computer and fast-food receipts. Police also took swabs of the interior of the car and pieces of the vehicle, including the armrest handles

Mirror picture was taken with an SLR camera.

Why "nope" ? It seems a bit dismissive.
What are your thoughts? Do you have another theory?

Some systems have remote access through the internet with option to save in the cloud. With the remote access you are only accessing your own Wi-Fi and controlling the system from your cell phone or laptop.

Don't know if this is true, but of course is offsite back up should exist to avoid the very thing that apparently happened here.
