How did they get hired an onboarded so quickly?

My kids school had to wait months for our certified, experienced teacher's background checks to work through the system.

They weren’t really new hires. They were more like transfers. The school’s are run by the state so they are state workers. They are employees of the district, but state workers.

This is NOT true. Teachers are not state workers and the schools are not run by the state. You may want to shore up you knowledge on the Virginia education system.

Well schools are run by their local district and overseen by the state. Teachers are state workers in Virginia.

No, they’re fcps employees. The state provides less than 30% of fcps funds. The state neither runs local schools nor employs the staff. How are you so clueless about your schools.?

FCPS is regulated by the state and it’s employees are eligible for benefits like the Virginia Retirement System (VRS) that applies to most state employees in Virginia. They are considered state employees.

I work for FCPS. And I pay into the Virginia Retirement System. However I promise you that I am not a state employee nor am I considered on. Neither are any of the other 40K of my colleagues who also work for FCPS.

Please stop posting if you don’t know what you’re talking about.

I think we can all agree that Thompson, Overton, Boyd, and Fritz have acted unethically. Being unethical is more than enough to get you removed from your position in a school system. So far we only have 1/4 fired. Why haven’t the others been held accountable?

You could make a case on Fritz because of the emojis. I don’t think Ried handled things appropriately, but need more information about the others before coming to conclusions.

This isn’t accurate. The employer of record for teachers and staff. FCPS exercises control over employees and is the employer. The fact that some benefits come from the Commonwealth and there are FCPS obligations to the Commonwealth doesn’t mean that FCPS is not the employer. If hires were fast tracked it is because FCPS wanted that result.

So Hayfield football raised almost $30K on one platform, plus $200.00 in cash per player pre season?

Where did all that money go??

Hahaha, so true. Hayfield found out the hard way that those are frowned upon. Overton finds out next.

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I hope Fairfax parents hold their feet to the fire on a few issues:

Where I'd the money? Did the team raise any money that did not go directly to the booster club or pta.
If so, where is the money. I have heard of team using the money to pay for recruits to go to camp. The parents and kids who raised the money don't understand that their work and money was robbed from them and spent to take away opportunities from their kids.
Also. Those star recruits aren't allowed to have booster clubs, et al pay for training. They could lose future scholarships if it is discovered or have to pay back scholarships since their apps that state they recieved nontraining money are essentially fraudulent.

You should also realize that if a coach illegally recruits a position, but a local student works hard and is now better than the recruit, that local student is going to learn that hard work does NOT payoff. The coach can't send the recruit to be a backup player. The recruits parents have the receipts to hold over the coaches head.

The entire business of High school recruiting is filthy.

Make it 12 months and no one will care. This is the standard way across most top programs

No we aren’t. We are employees of our LOCAL government, i.e. the county. The state of Virginia is not my employer- the school board is.

Sure, Jan.

We probably won’t get any championships in Northern Virginia now either. Briar Woods is the finals, but they have to play Maury. Kettle Run is also in the finals but they have to beat Liberty Christian. Not looking good
