I see an equal footing for MLSN2 with ECNl now. You can expect P2P MLSN team to drop down to MLSN2 to take advantage of SY.
The developmental hurdles for players skipping a season in MLSN feeder leagues that are SY will make it not desirable for these clubs to continue with BY. End result will be a much stronger MLSN2 |
ECNL wins by MLSN staying BY. They’ll just get stronger as they will cater to the Aug-oct kids who will come out of the SY feeder system. MLS academies will always be top as long as they are fully funded. That doesn’t hold true to mls1 p2p and mls2 is done with this announcement. There’s nothing for mls to offer mls2 teams others than a very inconvenient platform for mls1 second teams. |
This isn’t the way things work. MLSN is the top platform now but no club is sticking around for a second tier, especially not an mlsn1 team. They will leave and go to ecnl if they want to go SY. It’s like if you can’t make the top team at club 1, most will go to the top team at club 2 rather than the second team at club 1. There’s nothing MLSN offers a SY club. There’s no pathway. MLS academies will continue to recruit from wherever they can, it’s not limited to an mls platform. |
Ok coach. |
I wouldn't bet on something that in your head will take multiple years. My experience is youth clubs address issues quiclly and morph to address them just as quickly.. |
He’s right. MLSN1 loses the most as they will split the talent pool with ECNL. Most parents and kids don’t want pro anyway. College at most . ECNL and the recruiting year alignment are primed for that . We are Not at an ECNL club but they come out on top here without a doubt. |
Mlsn2 is done as a competitive league (if it ever was) as of this announcement. Today. Clubs and players will go to where they have a possibility to advance and move up. There’s no longer a pathway for mlsn2. It will be a league of second teams for mlsn1 clubs but even that will be a tough sell with the misaligned age cutoffs. |
Prior to this, players can be deceived into joining MLS2, hoping to be promoted to the MLS1 team. After this change, the player will prefer ECNL over MLS2. And ECNL will be a better fit as most elite players will go to college, plus the younger feeder teams are all SY. MLS is too arrogant to make this stupid market move. ECNL is laughing to the bank. |
So theres less college roster sports than ever and one league (MLSN) controls the highest level of boys talent. But you believe college coaches will for some reason ignore all MLSN1 and MLSN2 players so they can focus on ECNL. The league that appears to be selling itself on that MLSN1/2 are too hard so players will go to them. |
MLSN is holding all the cards. ECNL parents are bluffing while holding a frying pan. |
There’s no longer a pathway for mlsn2 to make it to mlsn1. No one is sticking around for a second tier mls. If you’re a Q4 player it will be nearly impossible to move to the mlsn1 team where the older players play, some which are close to a year older. If there is no pathway for the mlsn2 players to move to the mlsn1 team, they will leave because the end goal for all the money you’re throwing at them is to at some point possibly play in the first team mlsn1. No matter how you put it the 2nd team will always be treated like a 2nd class citizen, no matter how much they sugarcoated. 1st team is always priority. |
Just look at the past Surf College Cup, so many MLSN teams get destroyed by ECNL and even RL teams. I have been to both MLS1 and ECNL. I know the p2p MLS1 level. |
GA teams also beat ECNL teams that does not mean GA is the better league? MLSN is the front runner for boys and will stay that way as long as they have the mls connection. ECNL girls are the only ones who could lose teams if GA and NWSL start a true pathway. As of now ECNL girls is the top of the pyramid. |
I never mentioned college coaches. All this talk about people being ignored… no one will be ignored. The highest level of boys soccer is mls funded academies. Beyond that, the rest will shake out over time. Mls1 attracts D1 coaches. So do the top 25% or so ecnl. Mls2 is mostly D3. |
Yes and those MLSN teams/clubs will likely get moved to MLS2. |
