Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)
Yes, let’s. Let’s bring in them all! |
| Madison is closer to South Lakes then Westfield is to Centreville HS.... |
It’s literally called the COMPREHENSIVE boundary review. Any schools that have neighborhoods in western should definitely be considered. No reason why a school within 2 miles of South lakes shouldn’t be looked at when it will be under capacity with all the changes. They are doing it to every other neighborhood in the radius. |
I am not a Discovery Square resident or a Floris parent. However, that would be unfair and egregious to Discovery Square. It is walkable from Skyview for activities, etc. They would have no other Westfield students within five miles of them. |
Wait, they are starting again with options A, B, C, and D?? |
No dear. They already concluded the comprehensive boundary review in January. Some Marshall neighborhoods were moved to Madison during that review. The Skyview review was intentionally structured as a separate, follow-on review confined to five pyramids. Those pyramids do not include Madison. It’s bad enough we have this boundary review on top of the comprehensive review. Now you want to reopen the comprehensive review that was already concluded just to create more noise. Some of you people are so quarrelsome that it can’t be believed. I hope they think long and hard before they ever depart from their existing plans to do a special favor for western Fairfax again. |
I brought up Option A, but that was because it was logical and met the objective standards. (I think it was option A--it included Crossfield.) Why was it most logical? I knew Meren would not want to lose South Lakes students and they are i her district. Think about it. She has been the most vocal about her objections, although she has not said the quiet part out loud--that she does not want to lose "her" students. I know that the commute to Oakton is ridiculous and that Oakton is full with new construction. That is just common sense to cut a commute dramatically. When my neighborhood went through boundary reviews in the past, I understood that the School Board member of the district had a lot of say in the process. (Kathy Smith, Stu Gibson, etc.) Perhaps that is different now. Dixit has the hardest job because she has many constituents screaming about their wishes. If I were Dixit, I would send minimal to Westfield and let it sort out. There is new construction all over that area. I'm not sure Westfield will suffer. Put a desirable special program there |
| cont. The difference now and in the past is that, while parents always get upset, this process has made parents think that they are in control. This has dragged out way too long. |
Hon, a lot of folks weren’t a part of the comprehensive study but are in play now. It’s obvious that if South lakes is in the conversation now and they are considering all options to balance the western high schools, then those neighborhoods in that tiny radius should be part of the conversation. I get you don’t want to be moved but it’s reasonable to consider those neighborhoods when you’re practically Reston. |
No, no Madison neighborhood is in Reston. You’re just trying to create noise by expanding the number of people who might raise objections. Fortunately, the odds of additional pyramids being added to a study specifically designed to include only five pyramids are very small. Cry harder. |
The problem with FCPS immediately caving to lees corner, crossfield/rooted in oakton people and walney oaks is that means every area that doesn't want to move will reasonably expect similar treatment. |
It’s obvious you don’t know your geography or you do no it and know it makes sense to consider your neighborhood which is why you are arguing so hard. If is so unreasonable as you say, why are you on this thread about Western? Probably because you know what everyone else knows. You’re two miles from South lakes and 8 from Madison, baby. |
Lee's Corner was thrown for a loop. No one who is familiar with the area thinks you should take it out of Chantilly. It makes no sense at all. I'm not sure they have caved yet to Crossfield. I totally think Crossfield should be at Skyview. Walney Oaks goes to Cub Run. That should be a no brainer. While they are close to Chantilly, they are also quite close to Westfield. |
500 UMCs... Take them all out without replacing any of them, SLHS's back in its aughts death spiral. |
Out of curiosity, what is Langley's capacity? |
