'21-22' DMV LACROSSE OUTLOOK

Anonymous wrote:Oh this is all so stupid. Who cares? HS doesn't mean jack in the long run re determining success. If you are good enough in any sport, you can go to any university you want. That is the plot. That is the advantage of being a high level athlete. It doesn't matter if it is SJC, Prep, Landon, STA, Episcopal, Bullis, Gonzaga on and on...it makes no difference to the college lacrosse coach...you know.. the guy that will offer your son a spot on his roster...

So...my decision for my son was go where he has the opportunity to play early, where the schedule is toughest and where we can get the best grades/scores. He did that and now plays at a major D1 program that is a great school. A school he could have never gotten in w/o lacrosse. Plain and simple.

Agree. A college coach could care less which school you go to of the high level lacrosse schools in the area. They don't even really care which of the high level HS coaches you play for. The coaches lump them all together both from a lacrosse and academic perspective, according to my sons college coach and the other coaches who recruited him. If the grades are good enough and the are a style/system fit, the univeristy will take them no questions asked.

Agree as well. I’d add the recent topic distraction on this thread would have never happened had certain cromagnons here not allowed their groupthink views to proactively challenge SJC’s academic integrity. The school is the total package for student athletes looking for great academics, great sports, and the opportunity to attend some of the nation’s most competitive universities. The facts prove it.

Club lacrosse still > HS lacrosse in recruitment. 23 class
Proving that

This x1000. And with the emergence of club, where many of these kids play together year round from an early age, the parents seem to care a lot more about this high school nonsense than the kids do.
Anonymous
“High school non-sense” like where our kids get an actual education. Imagine that parents would actually care about that. 4 years of college lacrosse is the only important thing I guess. Who cares about education?
Anonymous
“Nonsense” as in “my school is sooooo good and your school is soooooo bad.” That nonsense numbnut.

Numbnut. A word often tested in the SATs. Fitting response. I’m crushed.

It’s right there alongside Bullis as the school that kids who aren’t able to get into one of the better privates goes to.

Look - I get it. The very idea that SJC is sending kids to Harvard, Columbia, Stanford -- the best academic schools in the country -- is hard to hear. Just doesn't compute, does it. It's ok. Take a beat. Jump in the Range. Head to CCC. You'll feel better.

Dads are pissed their kids want to go to SJC and not where they went to high school.

Correct. And if anyone thinks HS matters more than college to a young persons development, then you can’t be helped. I have never once asked a candidate how their experience was attending a HS….but I do ask every candidate about their college years. Play great. Get good grades. Go anywhere you want.

As the new year approaches here are the preseason top 10 rankings for the IAC/WCAC.

1. Sjc- obvious choice/ridiculous 2022 class and 2023 class and that stud attack men in the 2024 class
2. Georgetown prep- lots of talent/need to see those 2023 dogs rise to the challenge.
3. Landon- dark horse team/ talent across the board.
4.Bullis- overall very balanced team, great coaching, just need a fogo.
5. SSSAS- strong senior class
6. PVI- strong senior and junior class/ very well balanced/ lots of talent.
7. STA- young team with lots of talent in 2023 class, should be a interesting team to watch.
8. Dematha- new coach and athletic team, lost a lot of talent with 2021 class leaving.
9.Episcopal- lost lots of talent in 2021 class leaving but has a very good left attack man to build off.
10. Gonzaga- old coach left, not a very strong 2022 class or 2023 class/might not be a top 4 team in the WCAC.

I’d switch STA and Dematha. Otherwise it’s a great list.

I call fake poll with GZ at 10. But it will all play itself out (if there is a season).
