SYC

Looks like nobody came over from LMVSC to coach a second team (Orange team). Here's some real talk: if your kid isn't already on a given coach's team (meaning that they are right now at LMVSC), and you're sitting at SYC with your kid on a Blue (1st) team thinking about how lucky you are that you're getting a new coach, prepare to be disappointed. The incoming coach of the 2003, 2004, 2005 boys teams carries at least 20 players on his roster. If only, say, 12 per team with him then that means that half of the SYC blue teams (assuming a roster of 16-18 players) is getting the axe. 12 per team might be on the low end. I've heard that the 2006 and 2007 boys red teams are also looking to switch clubs. That'll be more of a mess, because it seems like a lot of SYC players are going the other way.

Bottom line: the coaches coming in to SYC from LMVSC are good. But they're only good if you're on their team. One hallmark of Este Maldonado-led LMVSC is that the club did not care about any teams other than the top (red) teams. Can't say for sure whether that was from Este or somewhere else, but they just didn't care. So hope for that offer to be on a blue team--but if your DC isn't already on an LMVSC red team, odds ain't great.

That happens here now, with one difference, not all kids on top teams don’t belong on top teams.

According to Dotty, that is why the other coaches were fired Estes takes the lower teams and Rec serious. This was noted by his non-presence at the Rec meeting.

I wonder in a year how many promises will have been broken. 2 directors have 3 teams. TD has 2. Last one has 2 and a full time job... How in the world are these guys going to have time to help rec or lower teams?

I believe they would help the lower teams through staff meetings, staff training, etc like any club. Or is your idea of helping, doing actual "training" sessions with the kids at lower levels? looks impossible to me. Besides each team has their own coaching staff, hoping they are quality coaches as well.

For most of these players, Gunston makes a lot of sense, location-wise. Vicky Hall is in charge there, and she is a good coach from what I have seen.

They just got kicked out of VPL and the program is dying. They're trying to do EDP, but if going to Great Falls to get beat was bad, why travel to PA to do the same?

LMVSC made a merger offer to Gunston in the fall; they declined. If they were dying maybe they should have taken the offer?

There's a lot of clubs that should be merging and don't. Egos and salaries, that's what gets in the way.

In two short sentences you just summed up 90% of what's wrong with youth soccer in Northern Virginia.

LMVSC just came out with that post, so I am guessing LMVSC. This goes to the PP's point about what a mess SYC is and the posting on Social Media.

Let’s be honest both are a mess. LMVSC just announced a travel meet and greet same day and time at the one at syc.

Of course they did! The real question is will BRYC and Gunston coordinate their tryouts as to not conflict with SYC and LMVSC?

Saw something about joga? Is this the real deal?

Saw that too! A partnership with Joga and SMI? I have heard those names tossed around but don't know enough to know whether this is something awesome or yet another way to steal parents' money in an effort to get our kids into 'elite' soccer.

Has SYC released their prices for 2019/2020 yet? From the Town Hall it sounded like they were going to increase but I still haven't seen anything come out.
