I'm assuming he can't reveal classified info, but there may be other elements that aren't classified but that he would have erred on not testifying to as leading the investigation...?

I posted this last night and it got lost in a lot of trolling/arguing/discussion about other elements. Can anyone speak to this?

Yes, he's scheduled to speak either today or tomorrow. Why can't he still testify?

Comey is scheduled to testify tomorrow! It's unclear if he will still be called.

Not testifying. Huzzah.

Is this a prediction or do you have a link?

Confirmed by multiple sources. Google Comey testify.

My point was more like, obviously there were things he couldn't publicly testify to as FBI Director, either because the info was classified or there were things he didn't feel comfortable saying as he was part of the active investigation. Classified still needs to stay publicly classified, but now is there potential for 'revenge' type revelations at a Comey testimony? Not that I think that would necessarily be a wise move on Comey's part, just suggesting that knowing that would have made this a sizeable gamble for Trump.

I wonder whether part of the reason they acted so quickly to fire him now is specifically to discourage him from testifying in closed session. They worry about what he might say as head of the FBI.

But why would this make a difference? Presumably his brain was not emptied of information the moment he was fired. He can testify about classified information in closed session. Why wouldn't he be called to testify after he'd been fired. Sally Yates was fired by Trump, yet we all saw her testifying. What's stopping Comey?

Per Senator Warner last night, he is still scheduled. Closed door though.

Also, NY Times just reported that Comey had asked Rod Rosenstein for more $$$ & Personnel for Russian investigation days before he was fired.

Whoa. Link? I can't find it.

Comey has a degree of leverage because he knows where some of the bodies are buried, whereas the traitorous band of Trump loyalists are rudderless. There's no much else Comey can say that isn't either classified or that relates to the counterintelligence investigation, which he shouldn't comment on. He's not going to sabotage the investigation out of spite.

Whatever Comey might say in closed session will be conveyed to the WH. Loose lips ...

IQ should be discussed on another thread.

Actually it doesn't take a genius IQ to be suspicious about the firing. One would only defend it if one were ok with Trump possibly having conflicts of interest with Russia and don't want any investigation such conflicts of interests.

Yep, The Hill has that story also. The plot thickens.

The optics of the timing of this is terrible. even if it was somehow well intendex

Exactly. This is getting to way too many timing 'coincidences' to be actual coincidence. And while at first I would suggest that Trump doesn't actually care about optics, reports are he called Schumer to ask if firing Comey was wise, so he either is trying to plant his own idiocy so people suspect Being a Dipshit instead of Being Guilty, or he does actual care about the optics.
