I wonder whether part of the reason they acted so quickly to fire him now is specifically to discourage him from testifying in closed session. They worry about what he might say as head of the FBI. |
How could Trump/DOJ have even said with a straight face that the firing had to do with the Clinton scandal? Trump and Sessions are on record back in November having said that Comey did the right thing. Do they think that everyone has forgotten and they can just start over? |
That is what is so disturbing. They are not even trying to come up with a valid argument. Smells very coupish. |
Yes, but his credibility has been undermined (cited as the reason for his firing), and he's now been given a motivation to lie in a negative way about Trump. I don't think he would, but anything he says that's critical of the Administration and specifically POTUS can now be dismissed as getting back at Trump. And while many/most Americans won't believe that, his die-hard supporters will. Those are the only people POTUS cares about, and unless Congressional Republicans are willing to break with the President they are the only voters who currently matter. Trump has made it very clear that he literally DOES.NOT.CARE what his "enemies" think of him. And for him, enemies are anyone who didn't enthusiastically vote for him. I'm not even exaggerating; he's said this on Twitter. |
Yes, because we are at war with Eurasia now, and Oceania is our friend. |
Well I'm the one who wrote the previous question, and I must say that this occurred to me. Feeling a little helpless. |
Putin is laughing his ass off as Pence and McConnell double down on Trump. |
Interesting. Maybe this is a smarter political maneuver than most people thought. |
The guy has nothing left to lose now. I hope he takes the same moral high ground with his testimony. With the same grain of transparency he did with the non issue investigation of Clinton weeks before the election. Need to pop some popcorn to watch this ship go down. Bigger than the titanic |
Not testifying. Huzzah. |
So he was fired quickly to silence him testifying again? Trump is playing three dimensional chess |
Trump knows that Comey got him the presidency. Now that he's served his purpose, he got rid of him to be able to forget who got him the office. |
Please. He's a coward who didn't want to pick up the phone and personally tell Comey. He waited until Comey was in the middle of making a speech to agents in California and now refuses to speak directly to the American people about this. Sessions charged Rosenstein with making a case for firing Comey. That's why the WH put him forward to serve as Deputy AG. It's what you'd expect of an autocratic regime. |
