So, TBH, I don't care much about the details of this story. But I've been finding the pattern of information coming out of the Administration disturbing. We have a situation where the AG, when directly questioned during his confirmation hearings, apparently just "forgot" about multiple meetings he had with Russians during the campaign. And now we have the DAG saying he "is not aware" whether a request for more resources was made in a meeting that he apparently attended. This is very odd. If he was at the meeting, he ought be able to deny that the request was made in his presence. It's strange that he doesn't do that, and his phrasing leaves open the possibility that (1) the request was made in his presence but he forgot, or (2) the request was made at another time. You can call me a partisan if you want, but I would argue that it's the WH and the rest of the Administration that has demonstrated itself to be untrustworthy. I tend to believe that Rosenstein would not state an outright falsehood. But at this point, if there is any wiggle room at all coming out of a statement from an Administration official, I don't know how I can believe anything but the worst about the intention behind doing so. |
And, more fake news. Not sure what your point was in posting only links, pp. This post should be deleted since you are violating the rules of this site. |
Yep. I call you partisan. You are following the lead of other Democrats who were present at the meeting. They didn’t like what they heard because it didn’t fit their narrative. So sorry. And, I continue to question the media when they reference “anonymous” or “unnamed” sources. Stories like the one I posted lead so many of us to distrust the media. With good cause. BTW - Rosenstein also said that he stands by the letter he wrote about Comey. His words.... "I wrote it. I believe it. I stand by it.” |
The links say that Comey wanted more prosecutors, not more resources, as WaPo initially reported. He got them, too. McCabe said that he had enough people, since Comey had requested them and got them. Now explain to me why this is important. IMO, it's not important. |
It’s not important. At all. Except, the liberal media has reported misinformation along these lines. I don’t recall WaPo or NYTimes writing a retraction to their initial story, implying that Trump fired Comey because he was “upping” his focus on the Russia investigation. I may have missed the retractions........but for days following their false stories, the administration was slammed. And, I will say again..... the false story relied on “unnamed sources.” Total BS. So, that is why many of us are reluctant to believe any of the stories from “unnamed sources.” There is no accountability. |
Rosenstein also said his memo was internal and not a justification for firing. I'm sure he believes everything he wrote. Who cares? Trump was already planning to fire Comey, and said that he did because of the Russia thing. |
So I see you have no interest in directly responding to the substance of what I wrote. As I stated, I'm not all that invested in the details of this story. But I'm suspicious that Rosenstein did not outright refute that a request for additional resources was made in his presence. You are using the fact that he was supposedly at the meeting where the request was made to interpret his statement as a clear indication that it wasn't. I'm saying that if he was at the meeting, why is he using such vague language as "I'm not aware"? Can you explain that to me? Otherwise, I will take you as being knee-jerk anti-MSM for no reason. The MSM articles cited indicated the information came from "unnamed sources". Intelligent readers should understand what that means. Or are you suggesting that WaPo made the story up whole cloth? |
Everybody knows Trump is not above using his position to get people to do what he wants. This is what happens when you vote for someone who has paid off politicians.
Comey knew Trump was trying to buddy buddy up to him so that Comey would be more favorable to Trump, so much so that he tried to hide from Trump behind a curtain to avoid having to talk to him. https://www.yahoo.com/news/comey-tried-hide-curtains-white-house-gathering-avoid-trump-report-125823269.html |

A Trump supporter who is a stickler for the rules. I didn't think that was possible. |
It really sounds like Rosenstein's covering his ass. "But, but, but..." Has he ever expressed his views of Comey's actions publicly? What he said sounded like a private opinion, pretty devoid of legalities. I'm not a lawyer, but I thought his memo sounded like it was written by one of his clerks, very amateur. Rosenstein has sort of redeemed himself by naming Mueller, but that memo he "wrote" is out in public, tied to Trump's schizophrenic letter forever more. Not good for Rosenstein. His reputation is blighted forever. |
If you have proof that this story is "totally false" where is it? It's based on anonymous sources, as is the Comey memo story, but most people seem to think that's credible. My mother always told me "Don't believe everything you read in the newspaper." But she never said, "Don't believe the newspaper at all." Most of the news as reported by reputable news organizations like the Post, is true. |
A Trump supporter who can't comprehend the rules is more like it. |
