ECNL moving to school year part 2

Everyone needs to cool their jets. All the leagues don't even have their 25-26 schedules out yet!

It seems likely that MLSN will stay BY. But there is also a rumor that there is going to be an MLSN3 come next year. So maybe they are going SY after all.

All MLSN will go one way or another. And its just hard to believe tier 3 would stick to BY.

MLSN has not decided yet. As of now they are still planning on staying BY. Will probably follow ECNL lead and run a little U9 pre MLSN league.

They will definitely have MLSN 1,2,3 that will happen. Same thing with Pre little league. They will have relegation and tournaments for all teams.

They don't have the capacity for any of that. They aren't even running MLSN2. They can barely run MLSN1.

"They will have relegation and tournaments for all teams." Hilarious! They can't even do that for the one league of teams they have now!

They are working on building it out. Give it 2-3 years and it will all be in place. A full relation for non academy teams with multiple levels to move up and down. They will also have a pre MLSN league with levels as well.

This seems more like a dream rather than actual reality. Also don’t think they have 2-3 years to roll it out, would have to be ready to go next year.

Correct. People keep assuming MLSN has all of this capacity, expertise and general operational effectiveness and the thing is, if you have spent any time with the league, you would know, it has none (or almost none) of those things.

Now, that doesn't mean they will switch to SY or stay BY, or whatever. I think that decision will be totally random by them and not tied to any real strategy or long term goal. And the decision will be announced late. Just like all of their decisions.

Relegation sounds like a great idea until you think through the logistics for a p2p club. Club vs club became popular because just a few coaches can coach all the top u12-u19 ages. All the schedules are coordinated and the teams play in the same location all back to back. Also a huge incentive for families to keep siblings at the same club as travel is much easier.

There have been a few different people saying US Club Soccer (i.e., ECNL) will let up to four Q4s "play down" beginning January 1. This thread is worth keeping alive to discuss that rumor.

Been gone for a few months…San Diego and Richmond. What’s the latest on this rumor?

Yeah, it's great soccer. One age group wins 1-0, the next one losses 0-7. Great for development!

Its easier not to allow this and nothing will change on 8/1/2026

I mean it will be exactly the same on 8/1/2026. Allowing a limited number ti play fown just creates a huge headache to implement.

When has p2p soccer ever been about development?

We have received our Fall game schedules for MLS Next Academy (tier 2, organized by NAL), however they don't provide a website to see standings, results, etc ...

Same here. No Locations for the larger events either.

The email exchange is a fake. You can tell because the fonts are different between the two messages.

Not only in size, but Thatonedad got close, but not cigar. The lower case “d” shows two different fonts.

It’s fake or you want it to be fake, or both?

My club is P2P, playing 2025/26:

- USYS National League (Midwest Conference)
- MLS Next Academy (tier 2, North Division)

By 2026/27 we need both platforms being at same age cutoff system, it won’t be possible to keep two different rosters (SY and BY).

Don’t care one way or the other. Prefer SY tbh. But I also abhor BS artists, liars and fakes. Would prefer to have this discussion with facts, opposed to fake emails screenshots, fake “calls from Trish” etc.
