SSFS Will Stay Open

If contracts are outstanding, they don’t know who is returning. They don’t know who will be teaching which grade. Teachers are qualified to teach multiple things, and when they have a sense of the student body, they will staff appropriately.

If you trust the school, you don’t need to know this level of detail.

I can understand why you don’t trust them right now. But these are not the actual things that will engender trust.

So parents have “unrealistic expectations” for wanting more information but the school doesn’t have unrealistic expectations that families should just keep their mouth south and fork over more money? Goodness.

The school just sent out an email saying they will be offering contracts to some lower school teachers this week.

I guess they realized their inaction wasn’t cutting it. Families probably aren’t re enrolling as much as they were hoping. Wish everything they did wasn’t just reacting to the newest problem.

That's silly. It could just as easily be exactly the opposite--that enrollment looks quite good at the lower-school level and so they know they can safely extend contracts. (Anecdotally, that appears to be true from the lower-school parents groups I've spoken with. Most seem to be re-enrolling.)

Does that mean that they haven't offered contracts to middle and upper school teachers? Or that only middle school and upper school teachers had been offered contracts?

Knowing how the kids who have committed are distributed across the grades seems critical.

Yes LS started this week. They haven’t started on MS or US yet

Oh so such a happy outcome - having high reenrollment - isn’t worth a message from the school? Something like -

We are happy to announce the LS has reached XX number of students so we are starting the teacher contracts a week early!

Wouldn’t that just make people relieved?

Nope. Silence means nothing good to say.

Why would they be starting to offer the contracts early if they didn’t have confidence in the numbers?

I swear, watching people in this thread paint and frankly purposely misrepresent every morsel of information in the worst possible light is sad and pathetic. I am struggling to understand the breathless desperation to do this.

The school could have opted to remain closed despite the coalition’s efforts. The community is instead coming together in extraordinary circumstances to keep the school alive and figure out answers for all the open questions for those who want to be part of it. It’s not happening instantly - that’s not weird.

If that’s not you, fine! But why spend all day every day at this point on this forum as if your life depends on the school failing?

OMG This! Yes! Thank you!
Now buckle up and wait for the same tired response of complaining that people aren't allowed to voice concerns. They don't get that what they are doing is much more than voicing concerns.

The gaslighting is spectacular in this thread. I don't want the school to fail. I want information to make a sound decision. This is my child who SSFS will educate for (at least) the next year. Please show some respect to those who just want real answers, not promises. While leadership might not have all of it at once, they can be more empathetic and forthcoming with what they are able to surmise based on applicants.

Exactly. I want the school to succeed because I want my child there but I can't roll the dice and just hope for the best. Come on, now. More information from the school as they move through the process would make everyone feel they are making the best possible decision for their family. Is that so much to ask?!

Apparently it is too much to ask cause it means you’re a troll.

That’s what I’m told at least.
