There should be tons of parity across the DC area this year. You won't see a team that comes close to the 2022 SJC Cadets.

Tier 1:
Bullis
Prep
SJC
Gonzaga

Tier 2:
Landon
STA
PVI
Saint Stephens

Tier 3:
The Heights
Episcopal
DeMatha
Saint Andrews

Tier 4:
Potomac School
Good Counsel
Saint Marys Ryken (Southern MD)
Bishop Ireton
O'Connell

A general observation is the IAC is going to be very good this year and the WCAC might be slightly down relative to last year.

While I only ranked teams from the WCAC and IAC, if I could rank a public school team, it would be Madison. They looked excellent in a few of the Fall events I saw them play in and could compete with some of the programs in Tier 2.

Gonzaga is way overrated. Yes the Eagles have the numbers but they just don't have the offensive skills and definitely not a decent fogo.

Madison held their own against Bullis in the Madlax tourney in November, they were even missing a few "football guys" who were competing in the VA state playoffs at the time. I'm sure Bullis might have been missing a player or two as well.

Warhawks should be the favorite to win VA states this Spring.

Will Madison upset PVI this spring?

Didn't PVI graduate a heavy senior class last year? I think they won't be as strong as they were the past 2 seasons.

Not sure what the Panthers bring back or if any high-impact players transferred in this Summer.

It will be a good game. Early in the season and at Madison.

(If I may) make a few adjustments.

Tier 1:
Bullis
Prep
SJC
Gonzaga

Tier 2:
Landon
STA
PVI
DeMatha
The Heights

Tier 3:
SSSAS
Episcopal
St. Andrews
Potomac

Tier 4:

Good Counsel
Bishop Ireton

This list is way too generous to the WCAC, and i think you can make a stronger case that there are really 3 tiers and not 4. Any one of the teams will be able to beat any of the others in tier 1 and same with tier 2.

Tier 1:
Bullis
Prep
SJC

Tier 2:
Landon
Gonzaga
DeMatha
Heights
PVI
SSSAS
Episcopal
St Albans
St. Andrews

Tier 3:
Potomac
Good Counsel
Bishop Ireton
O'Connell

St. Andrews

You are crazy to think St Andrews could run with Gonzaga or Landon or PVI. They have little depth to compete for 4 full quarters.

Gonzaga will be better than people are giving them credit for this coming spring.

DeMatha takes a step back this Spring.

Ok, Gonzaga MOM. No way. Gonzaga has one attack. Good luck running with that. Yes, you may have a decent defense but Bullis, St Johns and Prep will walk all over you, and your lack of offense makes you ripe for loss to at least half of your first 8 matches looking at your schedule. Being honest about your deficiencies allows you to move forward and get better.

I do not think they graduated anymore than most seasons or most teams. They did lose the top player in the Midfielder committed to MD but no different than losing Angelus, O'Conner, or other top players from pervious season. They also lost a D1 attack, fogo, and D pole but replace with another D1 attack, fogo, and D pole and still have D1 attack (MI) LSM (Navy) Goalie (Utah) attack (Jacksonville) D Pole (MI) along with fogo (St. Bonv.) along with a few more juniors who will play college lacrosse. The issue may be the coaching but the talent is very similar to previous PVI teams. They still are likely third in the WCAC.

the previous poster's assessment of PVI seems very accurate.

I do think the Heights might sneak in and challenge them for the 3rd or 4th in the WCAC.

Gonzaga and SJC will battle it out for the top 2 spots.

Gonzaga will lose 1/3 of its matches. At least 6-7 loses, and 2-3 locally. Riverside was not a mirage. Dallas Episcopal really happened.

Wrestling match, tennis match, soccer match, sure, but lacrosse match?

I see Gonzaga at 8 loses, but close enough. McDonough, PVI, Prep, Culver, Bullis, Albans, SJC. One of Heights of DeMatha too will be a loss.

Gonzaga won’t lose to STA or the Heights or PVI
