Carrie Bradshaw was not good looking enough for her dating life

Nope. Still has that big, bumpy nose.

She's definitely had something done to her nose over the years. Not with the natural bump, but w/the tip. She's had it narrowed. It's definitely not just contouring.

Utterly untrue. Women had style, just not style that fit within your narrow brand parameters.

We all went to sample sales and had options from every designer, plus vintage. As for hair...

Women were allowed to have curly hair that wasn't blonde. Shocking for you, I realize.

Sigh... I love you.

You have no idea -- you really don't.
You just brought me back to such a wonderful time of my life with the mere mention of those two glorious little words... "sample sale".

The garment district was such a delicious playground.

I truly didn't appreciate how beneficial it was being a sample size at the time (especially to my bank account!) because life a fool, at that moment in my life I thought I'd be a sample size forever.

Ahhhh, what a dummy! 🤣

On this day, when my life resembles NOTHING of my past self, I say thank you.

Thank you for giving me this delectable moment of fleeting reminisce. ā¤

🤮

Ah yes, this is the emoji used by someone who's never been to a sample sale, or just a really, really h⁰puff miserable person, take your pick?
Probably both.

PP, also a NY girl here,) so I know exactly how you're feeling. Pre-internet really was a great time for fashion in NY, the boutiques, the label's studios, even thrifting was great.
The internet ruined all of that.

No she's cute. A horrible nose is the Janet Jackson and Latoya nose who probably had the same doctor along with MJ who just went too far.

Her character on the show and she in real life tries to act 15 to 30 years younger than she is. On the show she was in her 30s and tried to prance around in mini skirts like she was a college intern. Now in real life she is about to be 57 years old, old enough to be a grandmother, yet still tries to dress "hip" and cover up her old eyes and face with gigantic sunglasses

Yes I saw the reboot reviews. Most people think it's a horrid mess. The only one that looked good is Kristin Davis, and they really messed up Amanda's character. Reviewers described the whole mess as cringe worthy.

She has sex appeal younger and older .. she dipicts the mind of most women i know. She brings a warmth to.the show. Her voice is distinct and you even wait for it to start the scene. She is my hero ...she knows the vomit most of you spew, she gets up and faces the world anyway. You cant bottle that.....

It’s ā€œdepictsā€ and she literally looks like a horse. Do you live in a barn by any chance?

Like Donna Martin she was only hot because of her body. Face is rough.....

she’s just skinny with good (sometimes) clothes.

For me it was less about her looks but rather the fact that she was completely uninteresting. She had no hobbies outside of shopping, no interests, no opinions on anything that mattered in the world. I never understood people who identified as ā€œCarriesā€, to me that was the equivalent of saying ā€œHi, I’m selfish and vapid.ā€

Agree with all of this but I also think her dating life on the show is fairly realistic (not perfectly, it is fiction). She's a sex columnist for several high profile publications, very professionally successful. She's been in the NYC social scene for a long time and knows a ton of people, has a history of being a party girl, is really into fashion. It's absolutely realistic that someone who goes out that much, is that connected, and is very successful in a very competitive field in NYC would be able to date a broad variety of successful men, from a finance guy to a furniture designer to a fellow writer. Extremely typical.

One thing to note about SATC (original flavor) is that the men were ALL deeply flawed too. Big is divorced (then twice-divorced) and non-committal. Aiden is sensitive and self-righteous, and the very fact that he stays with Carrie, and gets back together with her, is evidence that he makes poor relationship choices. So many of the men these women date lack self-awareness, are deeply insecure, or are shallow and rude. Which also rings true.

The truth is that most people kind of suck, especially when you are talking about single professionals in a city like NYC. Lots of egregious behavior out there. The show actually showed a lot of it, which was kind of radical. That's what being a single professional in your 30s and 40s in NY is like, for the most part. It's actually not great! But if you can afford it and put the time into it, the clothes can be nice and the bar/restaurant scene is great. The dating? S.U.C.K.S.

The anti-semitism on this thread is revolting.

She looks Jewish, has a Jewish nose. When you say she has a hideous nose/face you are maligning Ashkenazi Jewish features. Remember Jennifer Grey? And thew pressure to get a nose job?

Haters are just jealous. This woman dated Robert Downey Jr. and JFK, and had an absolutely gorgeous bod, amazing head of hair, great tan and looked like fun.

I can only imagine the pasty, chubby, doughy women who are kvetching about SJP.

She was a single woman in NYC, a freelance writer, and obsessed with fashion. I thought she looked and acted pretty in line with that persona.

I really think her dating life and success in hollywood was 100% down to her charisma. She always had that 'It' girl vibe and gave zero f*cks. People are always drawn to confident people and she had it in spades. Not to mention that body.
