I have a company sponsored conference with clients coming up and found out I have to wear an ugly company issued maroon short sleeved polo shirt. Ugh! I tried it on and it looks just as hideous as I thought it would. How can I make this look decent? |
Can you have it altered? Maybe waist taken in or length shortened |
Is it the color that's awful, or the fit of the shirt? I think your solution is to wear a sweater over it. ![]() |
Could you add some distinctive, professional accessories? Some things that are your style?
For instance, if I had to wear this, I'd make sure I styled my hair so that it looked anything but sporty, maybe sleek and smooth and no ponytail. I'd also wear a chunky necklace, nothing flashy, but something beyond just a tiny pendant on a chain. Maybe iron the shirt and pop the collar just a little, not 80s, full on popped. Or, do a contrasting lace edged tank underneath. |
Go full bore and tuck it into mom jeans ![]() |
nipples, very male will like the look |
Gather all the excess to your right hip and tie it with a
Scrunchie. |
Oh that's hideous, all the way down to the Lacoste flats. |
Alterations are key! A men's size small will never fit. Try on higher end golf shirts, then take your shirt for alterations to copy. Usually, the sleeve length is way off and the overall shirt length is TOO long to tuck in. Maybe a couple of datrts in the back to give you some shape. |
A lovely silk scarf and I agree you should get it altered. I'd wear it it with a black pencil skirt and heels. |
Can they order you a women's polo? Still ugly, but it will at least fit. Darts on the sides, shorter length (won't need to be tucked), and shorter sleeves. |
Gather all excess fabric in your hand over your belly. Pull it up and stick it inside the front of the shirt and then pull it down. Voila- bikini cutoff polo shirt! |
Don't worry about it. Just go full corporate. Any accessories and you're probably breaking some dress code, anyway. |
Ahh! I'm petite and a mens small would look so horrible. The sleeves would be 3/4 length on me even. I would tie it in the back and tuck it into a skirt.
Also, a great hair style makes up for a lot I think. |
