Splurges that are worth it.

I'm trying to find the delicate balance between saving money and splurging of items that will save me money in the long run by not needing to replace them.
Do you have recommendations what items are worth spending money on?

Spend the extra for organic non-antibiotic, non growth hormone, non-gmo food. Much cheaper than cancer in the long run.

Also feel like my IQ Air purifiers were worth it.

Good shoes that don't wreck your feet
High quality chocolate- fewer pieces but better for you and better tasting
Go up $10 a bottle on wine- drink less but enjoy it more
Good sheets and towels
High quality flatware

These are daily petit indulgences that help you feel luxurious in the long run.

Plus for longer term things buy quality over price and don't go for all the bells and whistles. Longer lasting usually means cheaper over time.

-Good quality shoes and clothing--especially stuff like outerwear and things you'll use a lot. Worth their weight in gold

-We upgraded all the major appliances when we bought our house (W/D, DW, fridge, induction stove) and that was well worth it

-In general, ways to reduce your stress: we have a cleaning lady who comes once every three weeks, gym membership, top notch daycare for the kids. It's SUCH a relief knowing our kids are loved and well-cared for while we work.

-A good haircut. Color I can still do myself, but having a great stylist has made a huge difference in my ability to look put together quickly.

I agree with good shoes.

Also, we pay for an extra dental cleaning (so 3 a year, not 2) and find that it has had an overall improvement in quality of life/health. As a result, we see a savings.

I do think that there's a difference though between splurges and investments.

To me splurges are those things that have no monetary return, but brighten life: good cheese, high quality soaps, etc.
