They are specifically looking to compose schools by demographic mix.
If a few of those demographic groups opt out in large enough numbers, it interferes with their big vision. Forcing attendance may not be tried but I have no doubt that they would want to. Of course, if the real goal is to muck up academics enough (scrapping AAP, changing TJ criteria, messing up AP etc)that anyone with the means opts out, leaving them more money per pupil, then it is very doable. |
It would be hilarious they tried this. Utter failure. |
It doesn’t sound legal. Just another straw-man argument advanced by opponents of One Fairfax after their earlier straw-man arguments didn’t get much traction during the election. |
I agree. But, with a School Board who thinks it is a great idea to put free tampons in elementary school bathrooms, who knows? |
| Race to the bottom. You take one of the strongest school districts in the country and drag down the best performing schools in the district. |
You are assuming that the wealthiest and most highly educated people in the county will allow this to happen. |
Or put men in women’s locker rooms. My friend’s gyno actually had a checkbox for men wanting Pap tests on their forms. Men have no cervix. This is pure pandering and will take up appointments women need. This is how insane those in favor of equity are becoming - and they tell US we don’t believe in science? |
What are you referring to - what is “this”? The wealthiest people in the county (not necessarily the best educated) just tried to install 11 Republicans on the School Board. The next Board will be 12-0 Democratic, so maybe they don’t call the shots the way they used to or think they should. |

Seems like this ONE FAIRFAX is bringing out all these white peoples true colors. Please let all these lower income people know that you don’t want them in your communities , in your high ranking schools to their face instead of hiding your racism in covert ways
Trust me I can feel your stares from a mile away, you are not welcoming of a more diverse community at all |

Yes, we know. Asians of all types are now white, neighborhood schools are racist, AAP is racist, and seeing everyone first through the lens of race is enlightenment.
The good news is that people voted for this and we're all looking forward to the continued improvement of fcps based on these principles. |
Stop spreading lies, I live in a wealthy White community (McLean) and this is not the sentiment at all. The elementary my kids go to is 42% minority, school has a great community, parents are nice and involved. We are POC (South Asian) so I guess I know what I am talking. People here in McLean are welcoming of a diverse community, this myth that people living in expensive neighborhoods don't welcome diversity is just a myth. My kids are friends with all sorts of kids, White, Brown, Black. Also, diversity doesn't not mean Black and Hispanic but in your mind that's all diversity is about. |
They may be diverse in race, but definitely not in socioeconomic status. Obviously, if you're in the same socioeconomic status it's not going to matter to most. |

Some of the white and Asian families in the Langley district could not have been more transparent at meetings this past summer. They do not want their kids at a school with poor Hispanic kids, whether it’s their kids moving to Herndon or Herndon kids moving to Langley. Their prejudice was so unfiltered that it embarrassed other Langley parents. They believe they have earned the right to live entirely apart from poorer people.
If you have plenty of money and are well educated, they do not care about race. |
Probably those who struggled to get where they are and chose to spend money on less house and better school district. It's likely those who put a high premium on education. They don't understand political correctness. |
I hate to break it to you, but no one is staring at you from miles away or thinking about you at all. |
