We're disgusted that they have profited off their fraudulent image and hypocrisy, for so long. We're glad that the Duggar family is being "outed" for the hypocrites they are - but not the circumstances.

What fraudulent image? If they went to the press with this year's ago, they would doing a horrible disservice to their children. What else should they have done? They sought counseling, contacted the police and took steps to protect their children. I didn't read all of this thread. Am I missing something?

It appears 4 of the Duggar girls were abused by Josh, and suggestions are that they are the younger 4 (not Jana). She may have taken on such a sister-mom role to stay and protect the younger kids, even though she (may have not) been abused herself. Not uncommon in large families for an older sibling to take on a protective role, when they see failings by others (the "real" parents).

+1 I simply cannot fathom these responses. A fourteen year old boy fondling a child in kindergarten? And doing this repeatedly? That is pathological and I would not be at all surprised if he was molested himself.

They shouldn't have put their family in the public spotlight. They should have focused on providing stability for their abused children.

Yes, you're missing something. They did not go to a police - they went to a family friend who happened to be a policeman, who is now serving 50+ years for child pornography.

In 2006, authorities asked to speak to Josh - Jim-Bob refused to allow Josh to be interviewed.

They sought no credible therapy for Josh, or the girls.

The family is a fraud, because they are NOT AT ALL the "wholesome" image they purport to be. They obviously worship the almighty dollar above family values and ethics - yet judging others (while harming no one - unlike Josh).

I think a lot of people are reacting very strongly because they feel duped. They went against their instincts and kinda liked this family who believed some repugnant things and maybe seemed a bit phony but had some sweet kids and seemed like loving parents.

TMZ is reporting that TLC is considering keeping the show on, but without Josh. That seems like a terrible idea because Jim
Bob and Michelle covered their son's crime up. This would be the height of hypocrisy. WTF ate they thinking? Will they film as if the whole thing never happened, or will they address it on the show?

The family should no longer be allowed to profit off of their fraudulent "good, wholesome, loving family" image.

It is shocking that the Duggars chose to be in the public spotlight knowing this could come out at any time.

I said this to my husband last night. It's sort of like the Giudices- you KNOW you've got shady shit in closets just waiting to be found out and you go on national tv? Do they really think this kind of stuff won't get out if they're household names practically carrying a network cable channel? You would think they would have shied away from becoming reality stars knowing the damaging personal info that was just waiting to be discovered about 5-6 of their kids.
