Why don’t you simmer down? Wootton is the most irrelevant W school that everyone forgets exists. Parents from Churchill are revolting against their kids attending Wootton. It has an ugly building, is located in a terrible town/zip-code, and is all the way out in the middle of nowhere. If the plastics were W schools, Wootton would Gretchen Wieners. Wootton is truly the worst. Too poor/low income to be a real W and exists in the shadows of Whitman and Churchill, and too rich to be interesting enough to have scandalous incidents and fights. |
Urbana is not the best school or place in MD. Best cities to live in MD is Bethesda, Rockville, and Ellicot City. https://patch.com/maryland/ellicottcity/7-md-towns-ranked-among-best-places-live-u-s-news Those in Maryland named to the Best Places to Live In the U.S. in 2025-26 are: 13th - Ellicott City 21st - Bethesda 81st - Rockville 117th - Columbia 127th - Towson 175th - Bowie 194th - Germantown Best HS in MD: https://www.usnews.com/education/best-high-schools/maryland Five MoCo HS above Urbana. |
Urbana will be the best after this redistricting and a much richer school than 20% FARMS Whitman and 35% FARMS WJ. |
That's brutal, PP. But, I do think Wootton is boring, except for the bomb threat recently, and with terrible facilities. |
Urbana has Total Economically Disadvantaged (% of total) 14% Free Lunch Program (% of total) 12% Reduced-Price Lunch Program (% of total) 1% Similar profile to Wootton: Total Economically Disadvantaged (% of total) 13% Free Lunch Program (% of total) 11% Reduced-Price Lunch Program (% of total) 2% Poolesville: Total Economically Disadvantaged (% of total) 12% Free Lunch Program (% of total) 11% Reduced-Price Lunch Program (% of total) 2% with such low FARMs rate Urbana should be rated higher, but they aren't. Even with the boundaries redrawn, Urbana won't be better than some of the HS in MCPS. |
You are laughably wrong. Urbana is #7, Wootton is #4, and Churchill is #5. Churchill is two spots higher. Wowwwww, so different. Poo-poo-ville High School would not be high ranking if it wasn't a magnet school, it is a cheater and doesn't count. It would be trash hillbilly school without magnet programs. With 20% FARMS, Whitman will be like BCC, which is an awful school and is ranked lower than Urbana. Urbana will be better than all schools except maybe Churchill. |
| I hope MCPS redistricts Wayside to Wootton. Those parents are the biggest crybabies on earth and nobody else in the Churchill cluster will care if they are not in the "community" anymore. Churchill is overcrowded and some of you need to leave. Enough with the bs excuses about mental health and IEP plans. I hope MCPS doesn't fall for their bs, and many of us will testify against them. We need to start a petition against theirs called "DONT OVERCROWD CHURCHILL." |
Actually, according to Chat GPT Wootton is Aaron Samuels. “Thomas S. Wootton High School – Aaron Samuels (with a touch of Cady Heron) Why: Wootton is often seen as the all-around golden child of MCPS — high academic achievement, strong extracurriculars, and a reputation for being well-rounded and good-looking on paper. That’s Aaron Samuels energy: smart, charismatic, and a little aloof because he knows he’s got options. But there’s also a touch of Cady Heron here, especially with Wootton’s intense focus on academics, STEM, and college admissions. Just like Cady, Wootton students often have to navigate the pressure of balancing success, identity, and stress culture — especially in a competitive, high-achieving environment like Potomac/Rockville. ⸻ Bonus Analogy: If Regina George is Whitman, Aaron Samuels is Wootton, and Gretchen is B-CC, then yes — Wootton is the guy they’re all trying to impress.” |
| My Next Door is blowing up with Waysiders building a coalition. |
I’m jealous. My Nextdoor is doing absolutely nothing even though where I live is hugely affected by all this. What gives? Maybe I don’t understand how to use Nextdoor. |
I'm "laughably wrong" even though that list shows Urbana < 5 MCPS HS? With its current low FARMs rate, shouldn't it be above all of those MCPS schools with similar FARMs rate? It isn't because even with such a low FARMs rate, it's still < 5 MCPS HS. But, let's say those other MCPS FARMs rate increases. Sure, usually rankings are pretty much a reflection of the SES of the student body. Even so, MCPS has much better programs than Frederick county schools. I'm sure Urbana is great. But, it will never have the kinds of programs that MCPS has. |
Or maybe your neighbors know that boundaries must be changed. Where do you live? |
| Popcorn is officially ready. |
| It’s EXTREMELY obvious there needs to be some very simple elementary school boundary changes because splitting kids up after ES and MS needs to stop happening. |
Exactly. We need to demand they do this right. This is such a large change that doing it wrong isn't an option. |
