This is why Urbana is the best school and place in Maryland. Frederick County doesn’t do DEI redistricting.
Urbana is not the best school or place in MD. Best cities to live in MD is Bethesda, Rockville, and Ellicot City. https://patch.com/maryland/ellicottcity/7-md-towns-ranked-among-best-places-live-u-s-news Those in Maryland named to the Best Places to Live In the U.S. in 2025-26 are: 13th - Ellicott City 21st - Bethesda 81st - Rockville 117th - Columbia 127th - Towson 175th - Bowie 194th - Germantown Best HS in MD: https://www.usnews.com/education/best-high-schools/maryland Five MoCo HS above Urbana.
Urbana will be the best after this redistricting and a much richer school than 20% FARMS Whitman and 35% FARMS WJ.
Urbana has Total Economically Disadvantaged (% of total) 14% Free Lunch Program (% of total) 12% Reduced-Price Lunch Program (% of total) 1% Similar profile to Wootton: Total Economically Disadvantaged (% of total) 13% Free Lunch Program (% of total) 11% Reduced-Price Lunch Program (% of total) 2% Poolesville: Total Economically Disadvantaged (% of total) 12% Free Lunch Program (% of total) 11% Reduced-Price Lunch Program (% of total) 2% with such low FARMs rate Urbana should be rated higher, but they aren't. Even with the boundaries redrawn, Urbana won't be better than some of the HS in MCPS.
You are laughably wrong. Urbana is #7, Wootton is #4, and Churchill is #5. Churchill is two spots higher. Wowwwww, so different. Poo-poo-ville High School would not be high ranking if it wasn't a magnet school, it is a cheater and doesn't count. It would be trash hillbilly school without magnet programs. With 20% FARMS, Whitman will be like BCC, which is an awful school and is ranked lower than Urbana. Urbana will be better than all schools except maybe Churchill.
I'm "laughably wrong" even though that list shows Urbana < 5 MCPS HS? With its current low FARMs rate, shouldn't it be above all of those MCPS schools with similar FARMs rate? It isn't because even with such a low FARMs rate, it's still < 5 MCPS HS. But, let's say those other MCPS FARMs rate increases. Sure, usually rankings are pretty much a reflection of the SES of the student body. Even so, MCPS has much better programs than Frederick county schools. I'm sure Urbana is great. But, it will never have the kinds of programs that MCPS has.
