That's separate from the boundary study. The new boundaries will begin phasing in in Fall 2027. |
These are not the final options, they are very preliminary looks at possibilities. There will be more options in the fall. |
Option 2 is HORRIBLE. Horizon Hill resident here. We lose so much continuity because we lost most of our cohort to go to Cabin John for middle school only to RETURN only PART of the original cohort at RM. |
Looking at the articulation data, options 2 and 4 will create a mess with split articulations. I really hope they decide against options with so much disruption. |
Both option 2 and 4 create too many split articulations. They should not even be the options. |
Yeah I don’t know why on earth MCPS thinks so many split articulated ESs are ok? |
Is anyone else unhappy knowing their kid will be forced to change schools as a sophomore? |
How do you all read the map? Are these all HS rezone only? Or MS zone as well? |
Check out the Woodward study (option 3). That’s what they are considering for Chevy Chase and Farmland. |
Me. I really do not want my kids to change school at 10th grade. Will the new school even have the courses they can take? |
I think the interactive map is the easiest to understand. On the left side, you can search by address if you are interested in a certain area. And on the right side, there's a way to select what you want to see (option 1/2/3, middle vs high school, etc). |
It's because they didn't scope in ES to the study. Had they done that, it could have been fixed! |
I am having a very hard time looking at these maps. Maybe it’s because I’m on my phone. Is there any change to the Laytonsville articulation pattern? |
Yeah - but given that they didn't scope in ES, I think they have to (or at least should) work around existing elementary boundaries rather than completely ignoring them when drawing middle and high school boundaries. |
It's not much further than where they go now which is Seneca Valley. |
