+1 Sometimes you need to let people fall on their face and learn from their mistakes. |
...she said to the people who just elected trump for the second time do you think if all those unnecessary covid deaths - plus jan 6, plus all the rest of it - didn't help americans learn from their mistakes, there's anything that will? i do not. don't mean to be a nihilist, but i don't see any reason to hold out hope. |
RFKjr taking away crappy food is not going to go so well. |
No need to carp here - both of you are on the same track. I'm in the "know a half a dozen polio victims...." while my kids do not know any. In fact, when they - mid teens - asked me to compare COVID to something in my childhood, I shared stories my parents relayed to me of not being allowed to go out when there would be polio outbreaks around them. The relief my parents felt about vaccines was so palpable to me, even as a young child. |
I don't see any other way. Tough love I guess. - np |
There’s a difference between not allowing someone to purchase something with money they earned and not allowing someone to purchase something with OUR money. Why should we spend taxpayer money on soda to make people obese and give them diabetes? And then we need to pay again for their expensive medical care for those conditions. It’s insane. |
So why the umbrage about kids' lunches under the Obama admin? |
The replacements were things like whole wheat pizza. MAHA is proposing that all that junk be eliminated. Kids should be eating things like salad, veg, whole grains, fresh fruit and fresh meat for lunch. Nothing processed should be allowed in schools. No goldfish. No cookies. No juice. No chocolate milk. No waffles and syrup. No tater tots. No chicken nuggets. All that garbage is out. |
Nope, you're wrong. RFKJ says all grains are bad for children.
You don't even know what you're promoting. Not really surprising. |
+1 people can eat heathy today if they want but they love their processed food too much. |
Now it's all "Your body, our choice," and we're supposed to cheer about it. ![]() |
LOOOOOOL forever @ the thought of a R administration giving more money to schools for healthier school lunches. When pigs fly! |
Right. Not that children should be fed whatever is cheapest, but in many schools around the country, the meals are made off site. Now we are supposed to avoid all grains (even whole grain pasta, bread, rice, etc.) and just feed children fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, fresh meat, and raw milk. Where does the money for sourcing, quality control, and distribution infrastructure of non-frozen and non-prepped foods come from? How much should I be preparing for my taxes to go up? Just checking. |
I also want to know what we're supposed to do when children throw their new RFKJ meals in the trash. DO we just eat that financial loss, or ...? |
He also wouldn’t have any say over that because the USDA runs the school lunch program. I mean if he can make a deal with the USDA that would be great, but maybe he should look at the failures of Michelle Obama’s efforts to see what he is up against. |
