What's going on with FCV GA?

Anonymous
Has it been revealed which age groups BP will be coaching at VDA, if any?

CC at VRSC? Word was he was going to lead the boys program or has that now changed with the recent GA news?

CC will be leading both boys and girls programs at VRSC. Not clear how many teams he will be coaching if any. I would be cautious about going to a club just because of one coach because it changes all the time

Where was it announced that CC is leading the boys program? Only saw he is leading GA and is RSA coaching staff.

Nice try, Niko! Without those FCV GA players, you're going to be the Mid-Atlantic's door mat!

Why would those FCV GA players choose a GA program with an entirely new GA coaching staff and leadership and unknown field situation over a GA program with nearly the same coaching staff they’re familiar with (and that built the FCV program into what it is today) at the same fields they currently practice on? What is FCV’s pitch for why players should stay at FCV rather than move as a group to VRFC?
as my friend told
Me. They have a short 24hrs to commit (gunpt)… w rev not realizing the teams want to stay n play together or break apart completely. Buddy said if their kiddo will move to rev only if the whole team commits. As such their kid is practicing w other ecnl teams trying identify which teams kiddo can play in/with

Prisoner’s Dilemma, except the current FCV GA players can talk to each other. It’s clearly in their collective interest to stick together, whether at FCV or VRSC, which are the only clubs that can accommodate FCV’s current GA teams in full. I still don’t see why they would choose the uncertainty that FCV is offering over the continuity that VRSC is offering, but either option strikes me as a good one for the players if they stick together. Splintering is the worst outcome for them, other than perhaps for the top handful of players on each team who can crack into the ECNL teams at Loudoun, McLean, or VDA.

That assumes they all still want to play for those coaches and are not ready to move on from them. The FCV players on the older teams may feel stuck with them given where they are in their recruiting cycle, so they jump to VRSC. The '09/'10/'11 girls still have time and they are the ones you are seeing at those other practices. And those are the same girls they need to jump start a program at Revolution.

I think CC leading the boys program was just a general assumption because he joined before they had GA and was being tied to the RSA school

It's not quite so simple. There are only two GA coaches at FCV. One will be at VRSC but the other will be at VDA. The loyalties differ by age group. For some FCV teams there would be more continuity by going to VDA

VRSC GA has CC (current FCV technical director and GA coach), JS (current FCV goalkeeper coach), MJ (former FCV GA coach), and ED (current FCV pre-GA (U11 & U12) coach.

VDA has BP, who clearly was a huge part of FCV GA’s culture and success in recent years, but he was not part of the above team that started and built the club from the ground up, and he is joining a club that already has an ECNL girls coaching staff, teams, parents, and culture.

FCV has an entirely new GA staff, some of whom have not even been identified yet.

Which club do you think is going to feel more like the current FCV next year, VRSC, VDA, or FCV?

Tie between VR and VDA. What is left at FCV for current players at this point??

This reminds me of the boys changes a few years ago when SYC brought over many LMVSC coaches and staff and almost left them with nothing. It propelled SYC boys with 2011 and younger into top teams nationwide.

VRSC most likely will win long term, just because they basically were handed 3+ years of a pipeline.

I still don't know why anyone would go to VRSC.

Which teams were BP and CC coaching at FCV. Will that impact where girls go? Maybe they go to where their own teams coach went
